I've found a video from a German tuner on youtube - JP Performance - where a Camaro gen. 6 was tested on a dynamometer before and after installation of such a performance kit by K&N. In fact, the Camaro has LOST in performance, about 10 HP - as you have written. I think I'll keep my hands off and stay with the OEM filter.

Here is the video: https://youtu.be/yyyq0cxLdWQ
I need to try hunting it down again, but there was a small cold air intake manufacturer who went testing their CAIs along with all the other major manufacturs (K&N, CAI, Rotofab, AirRaid, etc). Every last one of them came out with no gains. Iirc, 2 of them broke even, with no gains, no loss, and all of the rest lost anywhere from 1-5hp (this was *just* cold air intakes on stock motors). I wish I would've bookmarked it, because it was an interesting view of things. K&N was towards the bottom of the scale with the most horsepower lost. To that manufacturers credit, they also showed that their own was in the middle of the pack with a loss of ~3hp. This is all whp lost...
To be fair though, that test was done on 6th gens, so its a bit different, but it did reflect my past experience having multiple brands on multiple cars. I have never seen a gain with one without adding a bunch of other stuff for breathing on top, and even then, I'm sure it was minimal.

Schön, von dir zu hören, mein Freund. Hoffe euch gefällt das Z.
Posten Sie ein paar Bilder von Ihrem Z im schönen Hannover.

You'll be fine with stock OEM Z/28 filter. They are well made and it's not cheap.
for the money I would change out other things that will really improve HP.

Tschüss
