RS package for Chevy Cruze?
I was at the mall today and walked past a Chevy Cruze. I noticed that it had red RS badges. It looked like any other Cruze to me. It didn't have halo lights or especially nice wheels.
What's the point? Are they going to put a V-8 in one and put SS badges on it?

Off topic. I don't like how Chevrolet has been making quit a few of their cars more and more similar. It seems very lazy and cheap....

There's always been common patterns across the board @ Chevy. In the 2000's it was placing an SS badge on anything they could. Malibu, Cobalt, Monte Carlo, Impala, Silverado, no doubt those cars all had a nice SS trim package that at least made the vehicles have a sporty look. Then Pontiac used the WS6 RPO on 2004+ Grand Prix's as a suspension upgrade package. Technically though all the RS package does on a Camaro is add nicer wheel's if it's a V6 (remember that the 20's are standard on the SS anyway), upgrade basic headlights to the Halo/HID's that they should be to start with, tint the taillights, and lastly body color roof ditch mouldings. Sure maybe the Camaro appears to get a lot of upgrade's but they are rather small items, and are mainly technology upgrades more so than performance.

RS is an appearance upgrade package, as gr8whitebuff said. Biggest upgrade are the ground effects, especially in the rear which has a diffuser look that lesser Cruzes don't get.

Front and rear fascia upgraded to the sportier, side rocker covers for sporty look, spoiler on trunk, fog lights.
The wheels are the same as all other 1LT+ Cruzes I see. Mine had no mention of the remote start as someone said. That option is not part of the RS package. My A6 RS 1LT does not include remote start. The RS version is way, super duper, so much better looking! Sent from my Galaxy S3 using smack-a-talk |

My daughter bought an 2011 IBM Cruze RS, and the package included upgraded wheels, ground effects, different front and rear bumpers and includes DRLs. She wanted an economical car to drive and liked the Cruze, but thought the standard Cruze looked plain, too much like a "geezer", and/or ricer car. She thought the RS package gave it a "younger", slightly sportier look, which I would have to agree. By the way, it was the first car she ever bought and really likes it. We can see why Chevy is selling a lot of them.

Forgot about the spoiler...she is looking at getting a more "agressive" one that Chevy is selling now as an accessory part someday...

Pictured above is my 2012 1LT/RS. The wheels on it are the same as available on an upgraded non RS car. Does your daughter have some unique wheel, or the same LT package optional wheel that I have?

Oh, and I do very much detest the monster-truck-tire looking, huge meaty sidewalls on my tires. The car should have gotten a lower profile tire on a larger wheel with the RS package. They have room to jack the price up for the RS package and have some more fun with it in my opinion. The car is a bargain!

Does that RS package include the Turbo? As labeled on the back of the Red RS Cruze or are all of them Turbo to begin with?

The 1.4L Eco Turbo is an optional engine, it has nothing to do with the RS package in and of itself.
The turbo emblems are factory GM from the Sonic, I got them on Amazon for about $7 each and added them. Sent from my Galaxy S3 using smack-a-talk |

My two RS's. The red one is my DD. BTW the Pioneer Premium sound system blows away the Boston Acoustic. IMHO.
The Cruze is a nice little car.
