Replaced my pads with powerstop ceramics. Rear pads squeal like crazy during initial braking, then quiet down. Believe it is their pad material...

Brake Motive sells the pad and rotor combination.
Unfortunately the rotors don't seem to be a high carbon product. The ceramic pads and drilled slotted rotors are great if they are burned in properly, but from my experience with them, you have to do it right from the beginning. If they were not burned or "bedded" in properly on the first set, they don't seem to fair well. I have installed the drilled slotted rotors and ceramic pad sets on many Patrol vehicles, and have had a few problem vehicles (most likely the drivers) that had to be replaced with a high carbon rotor, and severe duty hybrid pad. I recommend switching to a high carbon "slotted" rotor, and severe duty hybrid pad combination if you are having these issues. I have the drilled slotted/ ceramic sets on all my POVs, and love them. The Charger Pursuit vehicles, and Camaros just don't seem to fair well with them. |

I just had drilled and slotted rotors from BrakePerformance.com installed with Hawk pads and really like the setup! No squealing, great smooth stopping feel, much better than before with OEM pads.
Might try rethinking on the pads for starters and then go from there.

Wanted to add to this thread. I purchased the z23 set. I installed and bedded them correctly with plenty of grease and they too squeal like they are being murdered. Mostly when cold. I complained to summit and they swapped them out for Z16 ceramic pads which I installed this weekend with even more grease and bedded. The problem got worst. They squeal every time braking is applied. Summit has offered to replace them all but I'm not sure about this brand. I have to say I'm growing tired of replacing all for corners every weekend. What is it they say.." the definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result".

I've now my second full set of Z23 pads and rotors and third set of pads in less than two months. All warrantied from Summit. I can assure they were installed correctly and bedded correctly. They develop the squeal after about 2 weeks. I'm looking for someone who has over come this issue. I'm considering moving from the powerstop pads. I used bot the included carbon ceramic and the ceramic pads. It only goes from terrible to unbearable. I'm considering changing out the pads for some semi metallic pads. Anyone have an opinion on that?

If you are running stock calipers try a set of stock pads, I’m running a ZL1 setup with stock pads from Cadillac CTS-V’s and C7 Corvettes with no issues.

I have the powerstops on my 2010 camaro ss, 2008 avalanche, and my wife's 2014 silverado ,no squeaky noise from any of them. They need to be broke in to the manufacturers instructions to a T.
Sorry just realized this is an old post!
