My OBX headers w/cats were $600. Bolted right up. Zero issues. Been on the car since 2012.
Point is, you gain sound AND performance.
I'm speaking from experience. Most people who start with cat back/axle back and later add headers, are back here asking how do I eliminate drone or how to quiet things down.
My advice, headers w/cats on stock exhaust and go from there.
Good luck.
Avenging Orange, thanks for the suggestions. I have been researching the ancient scrolls 🤣. So much to search!! I am very intrigued by the header first approach. Assuming I will need a tune afterwards? So just putting the OBX headers and cats bolt on will give me an improved and noticeable sound over stock?

You will need a tune after headers to turn off the rear o2 sensors. Dynosteve is a sponsor on here and offers great email tuning options.

As stated, you will need a tune. But you pick up hp/tq and.......drum roll please.....improved sound.
Many of us have headers on stock cat back.
If you look at it logically.....you end up (in most cases) replacing a 2.5" dual exhaust system with a 2.5" dual exhaust system.

Orange and all, I like your style! OK, I am shifting gears (not literally as I ended up with an auto against my wishes) and researching the OBX setup with stock exhaust. I had planned on using a local tuner to turn off AFM anyway, I can probably just have them take care of the O2 sensor.

Very glad to have found this forum! Thanks again. Any and all other suggestions and opinions welcome.

Shop around a bit. I used my OBX as an example only. Texas Speed, Stainless Works (Stainless Power), OBX and several others have exceptional products at good prices.
