L99 valley cover swap without changing lifters
I have an L99 with DOD deleted via HPtuners. I happen to have a non-AFM valley cover laying around and I’m wondering if I’m able to just swap it in without swapping lifters or anything else (I’ll be removing my intake manifold and I just want to get it out of my garage lol.)
Any input on the subject would be appreciated. |

Yeah as long as it has the o-rings that go under it with the correct gasket kit then your all good.

Agreed
Also make sure there's an oil pressure sensor port- some don't have them. You'll want to tie off the plug for the solenoids while you're in there. |

Much appreciated! Quick question, what exactly do you mean by tie off the solenoid plug?
*Just edited to clarify - I haven’t deleted any other DOD equipment, just turned DOD off within HPtuners* |

Well by changing the valley cover you will be removing about half of "the equipment". There's a plug in the back of it to control the AFM solenoids. I was just saying to tie it down since it won't be plugged in anymore.

Update - ticking after valley cover swap
*Update*
After swapping the valley cover, after about 10 seconds of starting the car, a loud ticking noise is heard from what sounds like the top end. Any thought? |

Do you have a afm disabler or hp tuners to turn the afm off in the tune?

Sorry I missed that in your first post about hp tuners. Well the only thing that would have changed is your valley cover correct? If you now have a lifter ticking really loud I would bet that one of your o-rings under the valley cover didn't seal correctly and it's bleeding oil off that afm lifter passage. Did you use new o-rings with the new valley cover?
