I change at about 3200 miles and check every 4-500 miles. Never had to add any. Broke engine in hitting about 4k-4.5k most of the time and very seldomly at WOT. I use castrol gtx convention oil. Always have and never had any problems. I used valvoline racing oil 20w-50 in my awd talon tsi (spec weight ) and blew it up at 78k miles. Horrible oil and bad sludge.

I was wondering, for my SS, I did a semi hard break in. I didn't break it in as hard as some people have said...but I did redline it the same day that I got it. Haven't lost a drip of oil on my last oil change. However, I did a soft break in for my last car and it still didn't eat oil. So I'm still scratching my head on this one.

Only the dealer changes my oil. I checked the oil when it was cold (Sitting well over 24hrs) and then warmed up the motor and checked again. This is my DD (Daily Driver) and I will check ithe oil again Saturday and see if I burn any oil.

Most of an engines break in occurs in the first hours and heat cycles of running. This break in procedure gets a lot of argument and I do not recall ever seeing a manufacturer ever recommending aggressive break in, but in the racing circles you rarely find argument. Some claim it can heat up the rings too much and cause micro welding of the rings to the grooves while believers in aggressive break in find it helps bed the rings in better and micro welding is a result of other tuning issues. Anyway, I broke mine in aggressively and changed the break in oil and filter at 500 miles (get break in filings out of there), then again at 2500 miles. I only use Mobil 1 Ext Perf. Gold cap 5w30 and either a Mobil 1 or AC Delco filter (count the pleats and look at the internal construction of the filters and make your own decision). Mine does not use oil. I go 5000 miles between oil changes and no longer need to add oil (after break in 2500 miles when it used 1/2 qt). I also do not have a lot of oil at all being pulled through the PVC system into the intake either (blowby). For those who are having oil consumption problems, I wonder if doing an oil change with break in oil at this point and driving aggressively for 500 miles might help seal the rings. Typically the rings seals within hours and a few heat cycles but it may be worth a try. Also for those having oil consumption issues, you may want to pull out the PVC and look into the intake for oil pooling. OR pull the air cleaner and open the throttle plate and look into the intake with a flashlight and mirror for oil.

In my estimation, no way a engine that is normal, sb using a quart of oil between tanks of gas. To me even a quart every 2000 miles is not right for a modern engine.

Just noticed this service bulletin is for the V8 not the V6, is there another service bulletin for the V6?

I really would not wait till Saturday to have this looked at....that's just 72 hrs too long. I would call road side and tow the car to the dealer to have everything looked at and documented.
My thread is already posted here, so I hope it helps. If you need anything you got my number man.
