17" vs 20" DRAG RADIALS

I am debating between 17" and 20" drag radials for my 2013 A6 ZL1. I am looking for info from anyone who has used either size.
PRO VS CONS
THANKS

Just put a set of Mickey Thompson ET Street II's on the stock 20 inch wheel, and am loving it. I cannot get these tires to spin! (On the streets) Haven't been to the track yet. The only downside is, with a wear rating of "0", they're not gonna last long. Oh, and mine are turning on the rim. Not much, only an inch or so after some spirited driving. But something that will have to be addressed at the track, I fear.

TIRES SHOULDN'T TURN ON THE RIM..BETTER CHECK BEFORE YOU GO TO THE TRACK AS THEY WILL PROBABLY TURN MORE AT THE TRACK NOT SAFE

I know they're not suppose to. They are definitely slipping though.

Tire pressure to low? Only thing I could see to cause the rim to slip on the tire. The tire pressure is what holds the tire to the wheel unless you have too much wheel for the tire.

Can the ZL1 even fit a 17" rim stock? The SS can't, I don't think the ZL1 would be any different...

30 psi. And I haven't even tried launching it yet. This is just some spirited driving on the way to work and back. Gonna re mark it tomorrow, and see if it moves any more. If it does, I'll try adding a few more lbs of air pressure and see if that helps.

Told you these tires were sticky.

Ya they fit. Waiting for an opportunity to try them at the track to see if a hard launch causes a conflict of space.

For track or everyday? 17" will definitely be better for launches and the 17" wheel and tire should be significantly lighter, so better acceleration. The 20" will handle better in turns...likely a better daily driver.

Who installed them? Did they use the soapy water to put them on the rim, that will cause slipping w/high torque. I think all drag radials and slicks are recommended to install dry to prevent slipping.

I'm not a tire expert, but this is what I've picked up along the way...

17" WOULD BE DRAG RACING ONLY. BOTH BOGARTS AND WELD MAKE WHEELS THAT WILL FIT . MT AND HOOSIERS HAVE 325/45/17 DRAG RADIALS

First, sorry for hijacking your thread spookygunner.

They did use soap while installing the tires on the rim. That's probably the problem. I think after a few heat cycles it will fix itself. I'll give it a week or so, then post the results.
