Battery Tender Hook Up

I see no reason why it wouldn't work, but maybe someone has some insight. With the battery located under the spare tire (2012 1LE), I was wondering if I couldn't Just hook the leads of my battery tender to the boosting locations under the hood. All comments for or against would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Rem

Seems like if you can use them for a jump start it would be OK for a tender.
I hook my tender there.
Someone on here hooked the pigtail up to the posts permanently.

I hooked up the tender for my Braille directly to the battery and ran it through one of the grommets right next to the battery so the plug is just behind the bumper. No need to open the hood or trunk, just plug it in when I park it.

I’m hooked up in the trunk like AMG did. A number of other people have hooked up to the post in the engine bay and it’s worked fine. If your tender has an indicator light as to the batteries charge level you will know soon enough if you are successful.

I’m a believer in battery chargers. CTEK is one of the best for reasonable money $70. Check out the new 5.0 model. Walk in Jaguar, Benz, BMW and Aston dealership and you see them plugged into the floor models doing their thing. Just my .02
Hook up on the posts under the hood, route the wires carefully, close the hood, lock the car (for full shutdown mode). CTEK 7 step models can be left on for extended periods of time due to its final low “pulse” step.

I have hooked up my battery to the Battery Tender quite a few times and I never had a problem. Only other option would be to remove the battery and take it to your local auto parts store and have your battery charged and tested.

I did mine at the trunk as well. I have the connector lead going through a rubber grommet under the trunk. You have to bend down near the rear bumper to disconnect it, but I'm still agile.

I guess if you were physically unable to do that, it probably would be best to have it under the hood or somewhere inside the trunk.

Looks like the same thing as what I just put on mine for $14.00

I installed mine fairly low on the rear plastic diffuser so it's not real obvious but easy enough to get to.
