I like what I have just trying to understand my build and make sure its right. I've never had a cammed car, so from what I'm gathering up to this point sounds like it's the nature of the beast. I'm getting another tune with new upgrades from a more reputable tuner, so I'll see what the outcome is from that. I'm not interested in a turbo setup thanks and already have cats on it. I like my class act supercharger and cam too.

The excessive smell comes from injecting fuel with the exhaust valve open.
Thanks for your input I'll pass that on to my tuner

Run E85 and the stinky smell goes mostly away.

This is the wideband to get: https://www.aemelectronics.com/produ...and-uego-OBDII

You can log AFR right to HPT.

I run one on each bank.

If you have cats on the car and they are still good, then you really should be able to get rid of any smell. Its normally without cats that this becomes a problem.

thanks, I can't wait to see the outcome after my retune. I can live what I got after a good tuner.

I only noticed the smell after removing my cats, I run E85 now so it's not near as bad as regular pump.

I know, late to the party...
On a BTR stage 3 PD cam the lsa is like 120 so really the exhaust and intake dont really have overlap so is EOIT even reasonable to tune on this cam?>

It still has overlap at 0.006, even if it's basically zero at 0.050.

My cam is similar to the BTR 3 PD. Pre-cam, it just smelled catless. Post cam, it smelled catless with a new raw fuel smell. EOIT fixed the raw fuel smell. Now it just smells like it did pre-cam.

If you don't want to run through the calculator on this one, most people retard EOIT on a BTR3PD by about 20-30 degrees at idle.

Thanks Rob, I see in one of your tunes Injection Boundary is 560 for cells 0 and 512 rpm and 520 above 1024rpm. This is where you adjusted?
When I look at the 120* lsa on a calculator, there is a very small overlap triangle. Is this the overlap at .006?
Thank you.

Yep, I adjusted the boundary table in the idle cells. I think at the time in that particular tune, I must have been idling at 750rpm. Linear interpolation between the 512 and 1024 cells would put 768rpm at 540 boundary: a 20 degree retardation, which was my target (540-110=430).

Some (maybe most) people adjust the ECT table by subtracting 20 from the whole thing, taking the 110 values at operating temperature down to 90, accomplishing the same thing (520-90=430).

Regarding the calculator, yes you are seeing the overlap at 0.006. This assumes you are using one of the excel sheets from the hpt forum. Bear in mind, the shape of those curves are just a visual representation. The actual lobe profiles are different. But, it does give a nice visual of the overlap and the valve events.
