BEST post supporting I've seen .... Pretty tough to PUSH these cars within "normal" day to day driving also ...... legally that is.

He specifically said no it would not. Just change my oil and filter at recommended time and or mileage intervals and the motor will perform fine. I also asked about other modifications, there long term effects, and how they would effect longevity.
I'm curious why you would expect a "GM engineer" to say anything different than what he said? Of course that was his response, He works for GM and isn't going to stray from their maintenance recommendations or cause alarm...

I took my blower off after 4,400 total miles on the car. 4,000 of those with a Catch Can. These were relatively hard miles with 200 1/4 mile passes and the can emptied every race weekend. Got about 2/3 of a court of oil total so far out of the can.

The blower, runners and valves were spotless! Maybe the catch can made all the difference or it didn't help at all but it CERTAINLY didn't hurt the car and was money well spent IMO.

Hey I'm glad it's working out for you. I'll stick to what the guy who helped build the car tells me. That's the beauty of it all.....we all get to do what we want with our own cars.

If you watch the GM produced videos regarding our ZL1 and look closely at the one video with the ZL1 hood open you will see a catch can installed BY THE GM engineers! For those that don't have one it's your car and personal choice. You can rationalize all you want. I have one and it does as advertised. How many ZL1 owners have a 100K on their cars already?

I'm not about to try to convince anyone they need a catch can. If you don't want one, by all means don't get one.

That said, I have one on my SS and my new ZL1 (on order) will get one too. I drain it when I change the oil. Usually I only get a couple ounces out of it, but it's still the nastiest looking/smelling stuff. All I can say is I don't want that nasty gook in my intake system. If you don't care about it in yours, well that's what seafoam is for. To me that's a much bigger maintenance item than draining the can.

Don't worry vic...with only less than 200 miles on your car you'll never need one. lol

+1

Here is mine after 3000km. I installed it when they car had around 500km on the clock.

or put in easy terms, who do you think has better engineers: A GM or B catch can company?

GM engineers are trying to get the car to 100k with the least amount of parts for the corp. bean counters.

Said aftermarket companies are trying to help us beyond the 100k mark to help protect long term engine performance and help protect our investment.....

So were both right.
