I will proceed to take the car back to the Chevy dealer and have the oil changed or see if they will use my Royal Purple that is standing by on my shelf. The analysis is worthwhile and I think it will help push the case. For $20 and rapid turn around via email I am pleased.
Orange, I can tell you from the dealers stand point that what ever you bring will have no bearing on this issue. It is really up to the service manager to step up and either replace the trans or have a manual specialist tech go through it.

Also, there are 2 large magnets at the bottom of the main case and that will attract any metalic debris floating around.

Here are the 2nd gear carbon blocker pics I promised.

Thanks Rick. I understand the dealer issue. I use to work for a Chevrolet dealer albeit 30+ years ago. I do think there is merit for any owner to sample their various lubricants throughout the life of a vehicle just to see if there is any premature wear. I once saved a $15,000 diesel engine by detecting premature roller cam/lifter wear by doing a sample. Best $20 investment I ever made. Thanks for all of your technical support here! I know EVERYONE is very appreciative of your time and insight.

I think you might be confusing the "notchy shifting" with the stiff detents in the tranny. There is actually supposed to be a positive engagement that you can feel when shifting into the gears. If you are encountering that same feeling while sitting in the driveways parked then I would be willing to bet that is what you are feeling. The syncros would have nothing to do with any stiff gear engagement while you were parked. However if you have a short throw it is only going to amplify that stiff gear engagement.

As for the grinding while spirited driving, I would be willing to bet that you are letting out the clutch just a hair too quick for the transmission to be fully engaged in gear which results in the grinding. An easy test is after you short shift it and you grind, if you push the clutch back in fully and you can put it into gear at that point it is not the syncros going bad (if they were going, they would go regardless of if you short shifted or not). Also remember on the 6060 there are 3 syncros on first and second and 2 on all of the other gears, so the odds of wearing the syncros are pretty small. Remember, that with this transmission if you are ripping gears and short shifting there is a very fine line between letting the clutch out too soon and missing the gear and getting the shift perfect, and it is very easy to confuse the two and blame the equipment. That is not to say there may be something wrong with your tranny, however when you push this engine and tranny hard it is not forgiving. You will either be spot on, or way off and the difference between the two is exceedingly small, and it will bark back at you to let you know you did something wrong.
this is absolutely "spot" on!.."dead nuts" accurate, and i have the aisin ay6!
same criteria!..same procedures apply!..i believe the difference is,the aisin ay6 is a jap design, the tremec is american!....just sayin!

Just as a update in my situation i brought my car in and got a drive along with the Service Manager.....of course it took about 5 tries but I finally got it to grind in 2nd gear... they wrote up the complaint and told me that he would contact GM to see what is to be done. After over a week and multiple stops @ the dealership i was told by the service manager that all that GM can do is tear down the transmission to see whats the problem, and even then they would have to wait on GM on what to do so i could be stuck if they find nothing wrong!! I tried to explain that i KNOW what the problem is and numerous other Camaro owners are having the SAME issue. He said that GM responded to him that they knew of only 1 CASE...1 FREAKING CASE i know of 10 guys off the top of my head that has this problem. Unfortunately for me the delearship was booked and i'm taking R&R on Apr the 30th so i decided that i would just GRIND it out till after leave instead of riding around in some crappy rental. WRONG CHOICE ! about 6 days ago i was in the car with my wife and 7 month old coming back from the mall.... merging into the interstate... 1-2nd.... VRRRRRRROOOOM thats my FN stick popping out of 2nd gear my wife looked at me like WTH are you doing there a baby in the back i then had to explain to my wife that its not my fault that a truck almost rear ended us its GMs for making suck a crappy transmission!!! i dropped my wife and daughter off and went on a back road to simulate the fault again but it wouldn't duplicate......next day after PT....at a red light 1-2nd VRRRRRROOOM....happened again. i immediately went and drove to the dealership to explain to them why i shouldn't drive a vehicle that i now WILL NOT put my child because i don't feel its safe....they understood my concerns and offered to take my car in (2m). I just got off the phone with GM Customer Service.... i am now waiting a call from the regions service manager. Ive also printed out 6 of the pages of this thread to give to the dealership service manager. Hopefully will help his plea to GM to put a TSB. If something doesn't happen i see this quickly escalating I should NEVER have to worry about the safety of my family i literally wanted to drive that car in the lake after that happened. But guys i might need some of ya'll help. If you have a claim number or something that can help my cause as to say that this is a big FN problem....

"Dangerous" is the first word that should come to mind when GM sees that gears are slipping this badly on brand new transmissions, yet they still refuse to do anything? That baffles me so much

Dont let this issue hold you back...there are thousands of camaros out there with no problems....Only people who have issues post them on threads....its not everyday some one makes a thread each day saying there car had no issues today

Absolutely purchase one. After all, that is what warranties are for. If you are really concerned about the trans, buy one with an automatic. I wouldn't trade my LS3 for anything accept maybe a ZL1!

GO FOR IT!!!

You are absolutely right, there are plenty of great LS3's out there with 0 issues. I have questions on something:

1)Skip shift eliminator - Are the gears grinding due to the skip shift feature. Does it grind when skip shift is removed?

2) During break in period, do people drive rough which causes issues in the tranny?

3) Is having the brake and clutch fluid separated advisable or recommended ?

thanks!
