So what happens if you do this and don't add the rain tray? Will the water that gets inside mess up the engine or something?

Engine will get wet is all. I'm sure something could get messed up by water getting in but I think it's highly unlikely. I'd put the tray on though, no need to have that kind of risk with a DD. Garage queen? Screw the tray lol

Can someone measure from the hood to the lowest point of the extractor not including the drain pan?
Thanks.

I'm trying to do this mod. Can anyone give me the length for A and B in inches? I want to match the same location of the scoop as in the SS camaro.

Thank you

This is the insert, NOT the hole.

Those are not the measurements I used but damn near any measurements will work as long as you center the extractor on you hood. Actually to put it back a little further than I did is better to me cause it keeps you from having to cut into the front support of the hood like I did. I was going off of the Stock locations for the 2014s.

I'm glad people are still doing this mod, its awesome.

That was the measurement from using the template that came with extractor from ACS

Hey does anyone know if the water tray leaves enough space between the 1le strut bar or not?

Yeah I checked and I would have room if it wasn't for the vararam intake. So I'm gonna have to cut some of the water tray to fit it under the hood

Did the install according to jerry7297 instructions, used the 16 3/8 from back of the cowl , really liked the way it turned out! Needed a few beers to start cutting lol Thanks for the write up!

Anyone want to buy mine?

I bought one intending to put it on the hood of my Colorado, after getting it and doing some measurments i feel the clearance would be too close to the top of the motor.
So I am offering the extractor with mounting nuts and washers for $100 plus shipping. If you are within 100 miles of Johnson City Tn I would be willing to deliver it for just the $100.
Message me if you are interested.

Z-28 Hood insert

Are some of these inserts wider at the rear than the front? It looks that way in some of the pictures. Maybe aftermarket?
