Car Shipping Help

Hi Guys,

I want to ship my 2ss from Chicago to Texas. I am going through all the options(Open & Enclosed) available.. I am flexible with my dates also but the quotes are 1200$ for enclosed and 800$ for open.

I am not comfortable with open transport.. but for 1100 miles 1200$ is worth ? or they quoting high ?

Any suggestions ll be a big help.

Thanks In Advance

Most reputable enclosed carriers are going to be around $1 per mile, to give u a ballpark idea.
I recomend going with one of these 3 big boys:
Intercity
Plycar
Reliable (They do Barrett Jackson auction transport)

Chicago to Texas? Isn't that like a leisurely 2 day road trip driving?

Yep, especially in this weather. I drove mine from Iowa to D.C. 13 hour drive over 2 days.

I’m sure there’s more to it since the OP is inquiring about shipping.

Plycar has done several transports for me. Never had one issue so far.

I wouldn't even consider open transport, but that's just me.

Your price sounds about right.

I have turned away more people than i have allowed to touch my car. Sounds crazy, but i have had several times where a lack of punctuality, rig quality, or language barrier made me turn them away... so aka do not skimp.

I used intercity and they were worth the expense. They offer last on first off in some cases too... which i opted for.

Reliable seems to have a good reputation too.

Sacrilegious, I know, but have you considered having a pal drive it to Texas? And then fly him home? That'd cost you, what? $250 for an airplane ticket and another $200 for a hotel and dinner? And maybe another $100 for incidentals. A good friend would do that for 'ya.

Try calling Montway Auto Transport 916 899 5500. I had my vette shipped from Fl. to Ill. enclosed (beautiful rig) in Feb. for $1000,00. They allowed use of a credit card for payment. Just another form of protection for you. I couldn't have asked for better service.

Good Luck

That's sound about right. I got my Suburban shipped from VA to TX for $1000 and it moved within 24hrs with a 3 day delivery. I just got my GRT Camaro shipped from TN to TX again for $1000 and it got responses immediately and that was too a 3 day turnaround for delivery.
