I want to change rear diff and tranny fluid.??

I've got a 2ss 6 speed manny tranny.
2,000 miles on her. Already did first O/C with Mobil 1.
I prefer to use Mobil 1 Syn. much as possible.
My Question is what to buy and how much and where...?

Can I use Mobil 1 Dex 3 ATF multi-vehicle formula for the tranny..?
How many quarts...???

I believe the rear diff is 75W 90.
Can I use Mobil 1 Syn...??
How many quarts..???

Where can I buy these oils...I live in the OC

I've read all the post, but I'm not a mechanic and I'm not quite clear.
I intend to keep this car for a very long time, and I believe maintenance is key to avoid unnecessary repairs....Thanks for any input!!!

Hey, you can go with the Mobil 1 if you want, many people here have.

I chose to go with all Royal Purple for my change.

For the tranny, go ahead and buy 5 quarts cause it holds all of 4.6 qts. Get yourself a hand pump and it will make it A TON easier on you.

For the diff you are correct, use a 75w90 gear oil. I chose to go with the Royal Purple MAX . the change went very easily, go ahead and get 2 quarts cause it calls for approx 1.1 quarts, to be topped off properly!

It all went smooth for me so Good luck!

I found Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF at Autobarn for $7.89/qt. I have not seen it this cheap anywhere else (but I have not checked Walmart yet). Is this the right stuff?

4 quarts royal purple synchromax for m6 (holds 4.2 but mine started to overflow right at the end of the 4th quart)
1 quart royal purple 75W90 (friction modifier already in fluid) for rearend (holds 1.1 quarts but again overflowed before the entire quart was added.

I used some clear vinyl tubing from lowes to refill the trans and rearend, but a hand pump would definitely be easier. I noticed much smoother shifts, I highly recommend changing everything. And the rearend is full of metal particles. I bought all of the fluids at pep boys.

Get a funnell and 4 feet of clear rubber tubing from the hardware store. You can use that to fill the manual tranny from the engine compartment (master cylinder area). SUPER easy to dump fluid in while you are standing up next to the car. What could be more convienient?

The Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF is based on Dex 3 and it feels REAL nice when you shift. You will notice the difference. (4) Quarts is all you need.
