2017 1LE vs 2015 Z/28.

Thoughts?

Both great cars. 1LE will get closer to the Z. The lack of some weight and the technology improvements will definately help it to become close to the Z on paper.

The way I see it I want it to close to the Z/28 or better. Because that would mean the next Z/28 will be amazing.

I still don't want to see a next gen Z but I know that the new 1LE is going to be a very solid performer. Id like to see it give the GT350 a run for its money but not quite surpass the Z party narrow window that I am leaving it.......time will tell.

When I read the specs on a Gen 6 1LE it's almost exactly like a ZL1 with less horsepower, but also much lighter. I think it will be a great performer. I don't think it will beat a Z28 at the track. I think it will be very, very close to ZL1 performance. If you put the two cars in front of me and asked me to pick which I'd take (for the same price), I'd take the Z28. Can't wait to see what the Gen 6 ZL1/Z28 will be like.....

I hope the new 1LE beats the old Z. That will pretty much have to put the next Z in supercar territory. Maybe even stomp the Z06/07? I know, blasphemy lol

The article I saw indicates that the 16 1LE is 3 seconds faster on Big Willow at Willow Springs than the base 16 SS. Figure the 16SS is said to be at least the equal of a 15 1LE and you get a good guess at how it will compare to a Z28. The engineers are confident it is faster than the GT350.

Word on the street is there will be no 6th generation Z/28 for one simple reason; GM does not have an naturally aspirated motor for it in the pipeline. GM will want something special to answer the Ford Mustang GT350R flat plane crank engine.

I had the finance manager at my local chevy dealer tell me there is not going to be a 6th gen Z but i take what he says with a grain of salt. I don't feel like he is in the know...

There could be surprises coming though. That 1LE was rumoured to be the ZL1. So who knows.

I think the new 1LE will be very very close, performance wise to the Z28.

For any Z owner insane enough to trade their gem for this thing, PLEASE contact me. Whatever your dealer gives you, I'll add $100 to it and take your horrible Z so you can buy this latest, greatest machine.

Thanks

Not sure anyone is trading to the 1LE. That is not the thread subject.
