Cheap NPP sound trick

For those that have retrofitted NPP exhaust (or have it and dont want to buy a mild2wild) on their Camaros I figured out a cheap way to get a clean sound. I bought a couple of rubber caps for the vacuum lines from OReilly s. I then pushed the actuators all the way in and put tue cap on while holding it in. When I let go it leaves the valves open about 1/4 of an inch. It gives a really nice balance tone.

Just throwing it out there as an alternative to using NPP in a box.

I like this approach. I've been considering the NPP as a retrofit and everyone was saying it was complicated due to the vacuum and electronics. This makes it simple--install, cap the vacuum, and forget the electronics. Let it remain in a partial open mode. Thanks OP.

Thanks for the info. Never really thought about doing that. I'm having a little annoying drone in the cabin and hoping this may reduce it a little. I also have a retrofitted NPP exhaust w/o vacuum and fuses.

It doesnt completely remove all the drone but it is much more bearable. I havent done any extended testing but was pleasantly surprised to see that capping the vacuum with the valve closed and it stays partially closed. The vette guys buy things to have this same effect but my way costs less than a buck

Sound clip would be nice. Just recorded my internal cabin noise level and on the highway it's reading around 82-90ish decibels inside. No radio and in 6th gear. Agh!

As much as I wanted this to work I have to report that it does not work. I checked the valves this morning and they don't stay closed...

:( Looks like I may go for j-pipes or perhaps run full vacuum w/ mild2wild. Thanks for checking though!

I have a NPP in a box system on the way from Sunset Orange. It looks like the most complete kit available.

The Mild2Wild is the original and best. When you purchase the Mild2Wild they back up their product! If you need help or have any issues they have always been top notch.
