Ebay headers

So i was looking at headers lately and stumbled upon some ebay headers from jy performance, upon seeing them they look exactly like tsp and speed engineering headers and are waaay cheaper, Is this too good to be true or are they legit?

Did you notice that they don’t have the primary tube diameter listed?

Header Inlet / Outlet Size (IN): 1.75" x 2.875"

I'd run em on an econo build.

There's a reason headers are cheap. They either won't last, fit like crap, are made of inferior materials, have garbage construction, or any combination of all of the above. If you plan on having your Camaro for any extended period of time spend a little extra money and get some budget based Speed Engineering headers.

I bought a set of cheap headers on Amazon 2 years ago for about $200. I had to massage the passenger side just a hair with a dead blow hammer, otherwise fitment and finish are fantastic. 30,000 miles later still look great, no rust, no issues. Mine don’t have cats though—just straight to stock exhaust location, so not the same pipes.

They are not fully welded on the outside of the primaries connecting the flange. Speed engineering are fully welded. Would not recommend.

You say no rust, but you live in a dry climate with no real winter. The OP at least would likely have the potential issue of salt water corrosion living in Florida.

Cheap stuff isn't good and good stuff isn't cheap. Some exceptions to this rule but it is a pretty true statement by and large. If I'm going to put time, money and effort into an automotive upgrade I'm going to either buy the best available OR save my money until I can. On a related note I try to avoid Chinese made crap. I know sometimes it's unavoidable during certain maintenance operations but I'll shop around first.

I used a set of Speed Engineering headers on my truck and I have Stainless Works headers on my vert. There are clear quality differences between the two. I'm not one to pay a ton extra to install the best unless it's absolutely necessary. I can tell you the Speed Engineering headers were acceptable, but not great. They were not as high quality as a set of OBX headers I used to run before I went turbo. I would be afraid to run those eBay headers as you could find yourself with some leaks. If you want to run a SS header at that price, I would look for it on Amazon so it would be easier to return without having to pay return shipping.

They may be 304 stainless, but how thin are the walls? Also, is there a collector merge spike? Any reviews on fitment? I have a feeling this is where the savings are.

Also, pretty much every set I have seen for these cars run a 3" collector, although I bet 2.875" makes little difference. Some other brands make 1-3/4 inch primaries, but there is power to be had with 1 7/8 or 2". Factor in the slightly smaller collectors WITH the smaller primaries and well, we all know every little bit of power adds up.

If it was me I would spend the extra $100 and get the Speed Engineering. Those are proven good budget headers on tons of builds.
