Unhappy Dot 4-5 fluid

I put this in my Car last week. took it to the track today and had all types of issues..

All dash lights are on. ABS, Stability, TC, etc..

One of the instructors said Dot 5 is not made for newer abs cars and this is what the problem is....

thoughts?

Dot 3 and 4 can mix safely. Dot 5 should be by itself after flushing all other fluid from system. If u mixed them i would flush entire system.

As stated above, DOT5 can not be mixed with any other fluid (its silicone based instead of glycol based) and is NOT compatible with ABS systems. It's rarely used outside of dedicated race cars or classics with manual brakes.

Here is a good read. Now go have you system completely flushed by the DEALER (you'll need a Tech II to cycle the ABS, so dealer only)

Specifically what brand and type of brake fluid did you use?

Also, every time you do a burnout all those lights come on. You know that right? I highly doubt the lights and fluid are related. Your computer doesn't know what type of fluid you're using.

Dot 5 is silicone based fluid - it will aerate and bubble inside the ABS pump and cause all sorts of computer errors.

There's a very select few DOT 5's out there that won't, that's why I want to know the brand. Plus he said he used a DOT 4-5. More input required.

ALL dot 5 is silicone, period. ALL brands of dot 5 are silicone fluid.

ALL of them.

NONE of them will work.

Dot 5.1 is NOT Dot 5.

Dot 3 or 4 meeting Dot 5 specs is NOT dot 5.

There is no such thing. The two fluids are chemically different and are not compatible.

franknbeans,

Any chance you used one bottle of 4 and one of 5?

Can you tell us exactly what brand(s) fluid and what the DOT designation was on the bottles you used?

Sorry for all the confusion guys.. been busy..

My fault on not explaining the brand. It's Wagner 5.1 NOT JUST 5.

Says non silicone and mixable with 3 and 4.

Yes I know this, but all the lights came on and would not turn back off even when I turned the car off.. I had no TC system working at all.

I also had a trouble code P069E. (Engine Light came on at the same time.)

I had to unplug the battery and let it sit for a hour before the code would go away and the lights would turn off the dash.
