Tapping sound from trunk area

Has anyone else heard the 5 taps coming from the trunk? They happen after about 5 minutes from starting the car? The taps sound like a finger nail tapping on the metal trunk lid. Most of the time I'm driving when it happens, but today it happened while I was stopped at a red light.

Yep, I've heard that. Strange sound. I figure it's metal expanding in the exhaust/mufflers from heat-up a few minutes after start-up.

tapping noise

hey check the bolts that hold your spoiler. There are rubber stopper type covers that hide the bolts that hold your spoiler and they are coming loose on many. That noise could be the bolt has come loose and is in the hollow part of the trunk lid.

no, that's not it. I hear it too. It's kind of hard to describe it, but it's not a rattle or anything loose.

I hear it quite often also. It sounds like a clicking sound coming from behind the driver side rear tire. I usually hear it soon after starting for a five or ten seconds. Thought maybe it was something electronic??? something related to fuel pump maybe???

I heard it for the first (and only) time a couple of days ago while I was at at a red light just a few minutes after I started it up. The car was on a slight down hill slope and it sounded like someone was tapping on my deck lid with their finger nail. Then a deeper sounding tapping noise. The light turned green, I left and the noise stopped. Very strange!

me too me too!!! I dropped my son off to school and drove off, I get to the stop sign and hear tap tap tap tap... I thought I had a flat tire or left the trunk open. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw my other son in the back seat tapping his plastic toy on the tiny window.

That's the best description yet of what my tapping sounds like. It's almost like an oil-canning / blinker sound.

it is the evap vent valve. the pcm uses it to monitor evap(fuel vapor) leakage, the pcm runs a test for it under certain driving conditions and when it does you here the valve/solenoid clicking
