You can't blame all those kids from Tejas for wanting to leave! Granted there is a tremendous amount of talent in California, Tejas and Florida by virtue of the population of these warm weather states. And OU has always had a significant portion of it's roster filled with Tejas recruits. Heck Switzer was well recognized for his ability to recruit Tejas talent. Again, who wants to stay in Tejas?

That said none of our 5 Heisman Trophy winners were born in Tejas although Simms went to high school there.

Bradford (Oklahoma)
White (Oklahoma)
Simms (Missouri)
Owens (Oklahoma)
Vessels (Oklahoma)

Let's see, of the 2 Heisman winners at Tejas only one came from the state of Tejas. Ricky Williams was from San Diego.

And none of OUr 4 greatest coaches (each winning more than 100 games) are from Tejas.

Bennie (From Chicago, went to school at Kansas)
Bud (From Minneapolis, went to school at Minnesota)
Barry (From Arkansas, went to school at Arkansas)
Bob (From Youngstown, went to school at Iowa)

And as I mentioned in a previous post, Darrell Royal (167–45–5) - the most successful coach in Tejas football history was born in Oklahoma and played QB and DB for Oklahoma in the '40s. How does it feel to have your stadium named after an Oklahoman??

Looking at our current roster - our skill players:

Landry Jones QB (New Mexico)
Ryan Broyles WR (Oklahoma)
Cameron Kenney WR (Georgia)
DeMarco Murray RB (Nevada)
Mossis Madu RB (Oklahoma)
Frank Alexander DE (Louisiana)
Jeremy Beal DE (Texas)
Quinton Carter DB (Nevada)
Austin Box LB (Oklahoma)

So much for the "couldn't field a top 25 team without Tejas"

Nebraska - now there's a team rich in tradition! I had the privilege of doing my residency there and attended many games in Lincoln. I made life-long friends and was ALWAYS treated with respect.

Hate to see the conference split but can't blame the Bugeaters for joining in with the Big10 - a lot more opportunities there.

I wish they would schedule Oklahoma vs Nebraska every year around Thanksgiving as a non-conference game! Really miss those days.

Hope to see you guys at the BigXII championship game for one last hurrah! You know Sooner nation (and all of college football) will be wearing red and cheering for you October 16th.

So I suppose all the beer I had to empty from my sousaphone was just imagined?

Remember, at the Cotton Bowl, seating is split 50-50 right down the 50-yard line. Texas on one side and Oklahoma on the other, and there's only one tunnel in the stadium. It's located at the end of the stadium that's surrounded by Sooner fans. So when the Longhorn Band marches into and out of the stadium for the pregame show, it's surrounded by Sooner fans.

PQ, go to NCAA.org/com, Google, Bing, or Wikipedia you will find all the info you need! And remember that is for "All Sports National Titles & Championships". You are right about Harvard & Yale!!!

Oh,,,, and as a fan.......... Like I give a **** how they do in the classroom.......... hahahahaha

As a UT alumni, it does mean a lot to me about what "The" university stands for on the fields of many sports (not just football), and most of all in academics.

Oncve again........ another reason the Pros are better...... You gotta bring up non football stats to prop up a team......

Indeed, Tejas has won 845 games (end of 2009 season). As PonyMan pointed out, their first season was in 1883, whereas Oklahoma fielded their first team in 1895. So with 12 additional seasons, Tejas has managed to win 46 more games (and lose 19 more games) than OU.

As PQ pointed out, many of these Tejas wins came over 100 years ago when Princeton and Yale were perennial powerhouses. No one even mentions them in discussion because most people focus on the modern era of college football (Post WWII). Since 1945, OU leads the nation with a record of 562-175-13 (.758). Even going back to 1936 when the AP first began its poll, OU is No. 1 in the nation with a record of 614-199-22 (.748). OU holds the NCAA record for the longest winning streak at 47-straight games and has scored more points than any team in the nation (>31k).

The reason PonyMan is deflecting to "All Sports" is because he knows Oklahoma owns Tejas in football national championships (7 vs 4), and conference titles (42 vs 32). Did I mention we shared a conference with Nebraska (5 national championships and 43 conference titles) for the better part of 80 years??

Fast-forward to the BigXII: OU 6 conference titles, Tejas 3.

Trust me, we will be trying our best on 10/16. We have a surprise or two planned.
Yea, I also thought that NU/OU should have been a permanent game,so did 99.9% of this state. That's when football was football and nobody went into the locker room and cried for Daddy. . can't wait to put the entire state of Texas in our rearview though!
