dead car

Just need a few seconds to vent. As of right now, as far as I know, my 1997 Ford Contour is dead. Started having issues on the commute to work, dropping power and acceleration.
Managed to pull it into the Ford dealership and park it out front before it completely died, and now will not start.
It could be anything from the battery to the alternator to finally just dropping dead.
But I'm prepared for the worst. Damned thing has cost me more than I care to admit in repairs since the beginning of the year.

He should have expected that type of comment when he bought a Ford Contour.....lol...sorry, but I used to work at the Mercury dealership when those came out (Mercury Mystique was the same car....we always called the the Mercury Mistake, but....). They really were junk. Every one we sold was always back in for service of some kind.

Back then, their slogan was "Quality is Job #1". Of course, I always said that they could just never find anyone for the job....lol....

I won't totally bash Ford. I don't like them, but they have some decent products. That Contour/Mistake abomination just wasn't one of them.

I think that is still the slogan...I have a sticker in one window of the stang that says "Quality is Job #1"

Of course the joke is "Quality is Job None"

I personally didn't buy the car. My dad bought it for me when I moved away from home after college. Working as a journalist, I wasn't making a lot of money. Now no longer journalist, but now trying to jettison the stupid Contour. If I would have known back then how much trouble that particular car was, I would have said "no thanks."
I did make a bee-line straight for the Chevy dealership today, and have started looking for something else.

For the record, the Contour is unaffectionately known on a couple of trouble-shooting forums as the "Ford Lemon"
