I got this as well, going to get the z06 oil cooler gasket this spring.... my cars don't go to the dealer unless its something major under warrenty, I prefer to do my own wrenching.

there are 4 places for an oil leak.
1) Oil Cooler. If the stains or drops are in the vicinity of the cooler, highly likely, oil cooler gasket/o-ring is the issue 2) if the bottom of the oil pan, front and/or back, is coated with film of oil, the oil pan gasket is the problem 3) if there is oil droplets on the center/bottom of the bellhousing, the problem could be either the rear main seal or the rear engine cover porosity issue........or BOTH. |

And I have all three.........does that mean I win the prize To hell with it I'll put oil in the engine before I'm going to tear it apart for a small drop of oil or two. Ken

Mines in the shop now... oil cooler leak, trans leak, anti freeze leak. When i get her back tomorrow i'll post specifics. And to think all this when all i took it in for initially was for a nickel size red spot i noticed on the driveway.

I agree, if just a drop or two a week, not enough to take to dealer and chance them screwing up something else or getting your car back with dents or scratches that weren't there before. But if it is something easy like the oil cooler gasket/o-ring, I would get the fixed. A leak just doesn't go away by itself, in fact, it will get worse over time. The important thing is, get the problem documented with the dealership. |

I noticed a leak with mine yesterday...very slow leak but a leak none the less....I crawled underneath the car and found an image similar to this picture with the leak residue around the oil cooler..Would I be safe to assume that my issue is with the oil cooler gasket? And if so, any chance in h3ll my dealer would fix this knowing I'm supercharged? Is this something I could replace in my garage if my dealer won't? How hard would it be? And a dumb question, do I need to drain the oil before replacing the gasket?
Thanks, Adam Quote:
