Speaking of frosty weather, Number 3, you know how Sault Ste. Marie was founded?
Two guys were playin' shinny on the Detroit River...and one of them got a breakaway... |

Official GM statement regarding Camaro production announcement:
Today, GM announced that production of the next-generation Camaro will move from Oshawa Assembly to Lansing, Mich. This will inevitably raise some questions and speculation about what the announcement means for the future of Camaro. For now, we can tell you that it does mean Chevrolet is committed to the Camaro, and we are already planning for the arrival of the sixth-generation car. It does not mean we are ready to announce the timing of the next-generation, or to confirm any details about a future Camaro. Introduced as a 2010 model year, the fifth-generation Camaro still continues to be a success thanks to fans like you -- and we are not done yet. This year alone, we launched the Camaro ZL1 coupe and convertible, the Camaro 1LE, and introduced the Camaro Hot Wheels edition. We still have more news to come, and expect the fifth-generation Camaro, built by the team in Oshawa, will continue to bring new people to the Camaro community. Thanks for your support, and we look forward to sharing more Camaro news with you in the future. Al Oppenheiser Camaro Chief Engineer John Fitzpatrick Camaro Marketing Manager |

...whatever it means, GM is being decisive in one form or another. And, being proactive is better than being reactive, or inactive, whatever the outcome. I'm happy for us right now, we need something to hang our hats on going forward.

...agreed. But did anyone today see the real elephant in the room beyond the email sent? The Gov is going to offer 20 million shares of stock it holds in GM to the market at a 17 percent investment loss.

Oshawa = Awesome plant with lots of family FWD cars, crossovers. Lansing = Awesome plant with several RWD performance-grade Cadillacs...one of which will potentially share the same platform as Camaro. The Camaro is a performance RWD car that will potentially share the same platform as one of the Cadillacs at Lansing. Also, GM tends to...recently...like their plants to be consolidated, efficient, and full. You don't need to play very hard to connect those dots, imo. Quote:

This might not be a popular thought, but IMVHO, a 17% loss on a portion of a larger assistance package, serves as "payment" for a resurgent domestic Auto Industry that our policies helped cripple in the first place. You can't get anything for free, and it would seem like a fair trade to me. I want it all to be done and over with...loss or no loss. If I keep going, I'll break my own politics rule, though...and in the House of Z...I'd never forgive myself for doing so. |

...agreed Joe. It's not a significant hit on the populous/taxpayers per se, just a noteworthy event. Time to move on! I think it was good move IMHO.

Overshadowed by the stock sale and future production site of the 6th Gen Camaro were the following announcements.
The V6 Alpha Camaro will weigh 3,450 and the top permitting V8 3,650 pounds. The much anticipated LS7 powered Z/28 will launch as a 2014. All in all an uneventful day. |
