This is a segment in which many people were inaccurately predicting its demise, and it has gone in the opposite direction. Year over year this segment has only grown from an average of 15,078 per month in 2009 to this year being at 18,765. That is an increase of more then 3,000 units a month average and with no sign slowing down so far. 3,000 units a month is 36,000 more units a year, makes one optimistic about what is in store for everyone down the road.

well, thats just one month that the mustang has outsold the camaro, that i can recall,?
im really not impressed that much with the 14's,however,im sure thay will look alot different in person, just like my 10'did,...i have one more year to pay on my 10'..i may go ahead and pay it off,as it stands there are only about three vehicles i would trade mine for,a)CTS-V COUPE,B)ZL1 and c)14' VETTE,i will have my 10' for four years to the day next year, and i still love it,still can't take my eye's off of her after she has had a bath,

Though I wouldn't be shocked with the changes that they have made to the Mustang every year to see the Mustang edge out the Camaro this year. |

Personal opinion aside, I think the opposite will actually happen. Being the first biggie update, coupled with the fact that the vast majority of Camaro buyers are just normal car shoppers and not enthusist, I think sales will grow. The 1/2LS might be the biggest benefactor of the refresh as it doesnt look as stripped out as the 10-13 models. With the current 1/2LS, it looks like you bought the base base car, in the lower price ranges I think that might of scared a few away. Guess we shall see in couple months.

I dont think its the Camaro going down hill, it's just stagnating. And the new vette will steal alot of sales, remember Chev is the only one that has to share its performance cars between two models in a somewhat comparable price range. The Mustang is getting better and better IMO and it's only going to gain more.

The Camaro & Challenger are big! bigger than mustang. They ride nicer because they are sedan based sub frames with IRS and more wb. The stang numbers surprise me. Stangs are still 107" wb and solid rear axle. I thought old school would fade. I prefer the feel of a solid rear axle. I know it will not win Laguna, but I drive on a street not a track. Mustangs have hotrod feel about them. I am surprised that in todays market they still sell.
The Challenger bashing comment is unfair, Challenger is a very nice ride. It feels big and is, but, if you like MOPAR I think it is their best passenger/perfomance car ever. |

What is cool?
The jury is out on the 2014 Camaro face lift. I think it is a draw. If someone is set on Camaro they will buy. I thought for sure they would rework the dash.
I think Camaro resonates with Chevyphiles and is a great vehicle, I never liked the dash. It would keep me from buying the car. You see the dash a lot during your ownership. Mustang refreshed their dash after five years. Considered how cool Camaro would be with a 1980 Firebird looking dash, and a Chevy 10 bolt solid rear axle with the 426 HP LS3, Tremec 6061, and a 3.90:1 helical ring gear. Now that is an awesome muscle car. Sorry I was in highschool in the sixties pony wars and those cars will always define what is cool to me. |

My prediction: once it's out, the new 2014 will help accelerate sales of the 2013's sitting on dealer's lots. The gradual downward sales trend will continue after the temporary sales lift of the 2013's caused by the 2014. The Stingray will cannibalize some of the Camaro sales. The Z/28 will be very high profile and help generate interest in the 6th gen but it won't sell in enough volume to help stop the downward sales trend. The 6th gen could be a big game changer IF and this is a big IF, they come up with a great body style. They also need to seriously improve the interior; keep it retro-ish inspired but make it more high-performance looking.

Agreed....like the retro.....BUT...they need to improve quality....soft touch materials and such....my gf has the 2014 impala....and WOW! they did an awesome job on the interior....would swear I'm in a high priced import.
