Am I in the minority here???

With all this talk about people wanting the Camaro's exhaust to sound loud, does it make me a bad person or a weirdo if I like it the way it came from the factory??
there are two mitigating factors for me: 1. every car i've had till now has been a four cylinder, and, pretty much anything bigger sounds better. Plus, with all the newer technology, a lot of the sound is dampened, but in my humble opinion, it still sounds throaty enough.
2. and more importantly, I live in Florida. There are a buttload of harley davidson motorcycles, and, some, but not all, of those motorcyclist, think that they are big shots, like some of the people in the Lost and the Curios, ahem, fast and the furious people, who think that pumping the accelerator with the clutch pushed in, they think that they are hot stuff.

I pose this query not to be bashed. it is just a curiosity question, and I am eager to learn some of the arguments for and against.

Thank you for your time.

Every one has there opinion on this one when looking to buy a 2ss my plans were to install new headers and high flow cats and the loudest mufflers I could find bought a new 13 instead and came with the option dual mode exhaust which is amazing quiet when u need to b and noticeable when u want it even though aftermatkets r louder you cannot cruise around at night with out waking up everyone in your neighborhood

It's all in what you want out of the car and the way you want it to sound. If you like the stock sound, by all means leave it that way

I was the same way in the beginning. That didn't last too long, however. I needed louder.

speaking for myself only. i didnt want a loud car i wanted a fast car. Loud is just a side effect of fast. I could actually do without the "loudness".

The stock sound wasn't bad to me, just a tad quiet. Still a nice rumble when you get on it.

I went after GM (Borla) axleback mufflers and half the reason was to get rid of the ugly fat cans that are visible from the rear of the car. Those stock mufflers are fugly.

I prefer for people to know i'm coming. Stock SS sounds about as mean as a Prius.

I prefer a throaty, sleeper sound. The stock SS exhaust is just a bit tame though. I'm planning on LT headers, HF cats with the rest of the exhaust stock. I think this will give her just enough of a stealthy attitude

Regarding the bikers... It really irritates me how loud their rides are! What's the point really? "I'm a hard ass... You can tell by how loud my bike is!" ????

Compared to some aftermarkets, yup I might agree. Once you get on it the stock exhuast has a throaty sound that is tame. I'm looking to put a new exhaust on but I'm looking for my car to be fairly loud.

To each his own, if I couldn't mod my Camaro I'd almost be happy with it stock....almost.

You probably are in the minority but I still have the stock exhaust. Add a CAI and it makes enough racket for now when you juice it, 70 mph on the highway is a nice quiet ride though.

OP's question,Yup you're pretty much the minority here. One of the first mods for most people is the weak sounding exhaust.

I like the sound mine has from the factory. if I want loud I take out the 57, that usually wakes the neighborhood up.

I have and will keep my 6 stock. The LLT stock exhaust sounds better than aftermarket to me.
