Should I run my car on slicks?

One of my friends is letting me use his 17" welds with slicks and wondering if its a good idea to try them out at the strip , I have a stock m6 ss

On the track yes... NOT on the interstate with slicks and skinnies like an idiot I know did WITH HIS DAUGHTER in the car!!!

He then wanted one of us to follow him to hide the slicks from police. x 2

If you've never used slicks before you should put a thread up in the drag racing section for advice. Would hate to read that you broke an axle or killed your clutch.

With a stock M6 car all you're going to do is increase the chance of something breaking. With the sudden hook of a slick the shock to the drivetrain will be tremendous and you being all stock will most likely break a drivetrain part.

Use the stock tires. The little slipping that they do will be gentler on the drivetrain.

Yeah, but you were able to drive home. Prob won't happen with slicks.

good advice right there. "Stock" just means something is next in line to break. If it's time to go to slicks, then you should have already addressed some of those weak points. Heck, even non-stock parts are just the weakest link away from a 1/4 mile push back to the pits.

do your bolt ons, address the suspension and axle issues...especially wheel hop. strengthen everything in rear then do slicks. thats if you would like to drive it home

You only live once.... I say do it. I really don't see stock power breaking anything with just slicks. Plus if you are stock then my guess is you have a full warranty. If it breaks you will only be out a tow job home.

It's a muscle car, not a prius. Go hard or go home.

He only had us follow him incase if he had any issues with the tires and needed a ride.

Just worry about yourself.
