It will be atleast 1000 pounds less than the new Zl1's so if I can hook it up the new ones won't have a chance.

Cool project!

Are you cutting weight too? From what I can see those verts come in at ~3380 lbs. Adding bracing as well as the LSA and you're getting pretty close to our pigs...at least closer than 1000 lbs less.

I love third gens and I love this project after only 2 minutes from first seeing it. Are you doing anything to the suspension, and were you planning on doing a strut brace like on the current ZL1's?

Cool project! I'm curious about the weight. If you're using the ZL1 differential I would be amazed if you could keep the weight under 3800.

Keep in mind, his original small block, probably a 305, was an iron block with iron heads. So the LSA with blower may be close to the same weight as old motor.
Sweet ride!!!

True, but he's also added subframe connectors, bigger rear end, bigger tires, big brakes, etc. Also the TR6060 is heavier than the 700R4/T5 that was behind the 305. I think it will be lighter than a ZL1 for sure, maybe not 1K lighter. It won't have all of the added safety and convenience crap that weighs modern cars down. It'll be a performer no matter what, that's for sure.

Def. a cool project and 1 of a kind....car's super clean. I'll always have a soft spot for the 3rd gens...my first "performance" car was an '86 IROC many moons ago.

I've got a MWC fab 9 that has a through bolt aluminum 3rd member with wavtrac that's narrowed 4" that weighs less then a stock 10 bolt. So just because its a bigger better rear does not make it heavier if you got the $$$$ to play

Wow, thats awesome. I also have a 91 vert and often dreamed of a powerplant like that. Im sure you have a roll bar in works.

That's great...but heavier duty trans and breaks aren't that easy to cut weight on. Really this build is awesome no matter what. I just don't think 1K# in curb weight is feasible once you swap drivetrains that are more HD and add necessary bracing w/ it being a vert.

Just a little paint to finish up the project and give it a nicer look.
