best source of info for LS transplant

Wondering if any members here can offer up best sources of info on LS swaps........... I am thinking of taking the 396 out of my 68 ss/rs and putting a LS-3 in (some where in the distant future) I did read a article that see to say the LS3 was or seems to be the better choice due to less items to mess with............. So I guess what I am asking for is any books, web sites etc that offer the best info on this subject. thank you in advance for any help on this subject.

If they 396 is original, dont touch it....if not, go for it! LS swap parts are available & ARH makes headers. It should be a fun project.

I am looking to do most of the work myself, have a few car builds restores under my belt, just all with old school engines except for a 34 ford we stuck a 93 vett motor in, but frame came from outlaw performance with mounts in place. As far as power I would be happy with a ls3 right out of a 2008 or up vett, not looking to race the car just a cruzer.......................... Im looking to do some reading up and so on to put together a list of needs and figure out a $$$ amount for parts and so on. thanks for the offer

I wish the 396 was original, its a 1965 block i think out of a vett, however my car is a true big block car and real SS/RS

These days you can buy complete kits. You need motor mount adapters, trans mount, headers, harness, shifter setup and hydraulics, you'll need to tweak the trans tunnel, get a shortened driveshaft. Thats the biggest stuff. All the chevy magazines have run stories on the swap before. Go to super chevy or chevy high performance websites and read up.
