What's up with the no Camaros at track day events (VIR)
So, I'm a member of a local sports car club and ran a NASA event today at VIR and i've only seen one other 5th gen Camaro.
Plenty of Mustangs, even a couple challengers today, but my brother and myself were the only 2 Camaros besides some 4th gens out on the track. Are they just to heavy to track and/or pricey? The brake pads, rotors and tires certainly are too pricey, but I thought i'd see some more 5th gens around.

Just depends on the area. The 1le's and zl1's all have the warranties still on them.

I don't go because my track charges 600$ for the day. And auto x is an even bigger rip off. Lol 75$ to drive around cones in a parking lot and maybe hit 50mph. Lame.

I missed my chance at VIR this summer because of rotating shift work. I'll be down at Daytona November 1-2 though. I plan to make more of the events next year, schedule allowing.

I would love to track more, but with the cost @ NJMP of $250-300 + insurance I usually decide to drag race instead for $15. Right now I am spending all my fun $$ on the car itself.

NJMP is great place to participate!
If you average "track Time" $250 plus 200 for insurance, ( $34,000) So.. $450 for 4-5/ day 25-30 minute sessions = 4 x 25 x 60= 6000 seconds at $450 = .006666666 per second as compared to: 15 second runs x 5=60seconds $15.00 / 60 seconds = .166666 PER SECOND aND YOU BREAK MORE STUFF. gIVE TRACK DAYS A SHOT, oNCE, AND YOU BE HOOKED! |
