1995 LT1 not playing nice!
So I have a 95 LT
and it has sort of an intermittent stalling problem? It hasn't done it lately, but for a few months every few days at red lights it would just die, no hessitation before hand, just die. and then start right back up on the first crank, it would do it about once a day and then it just stopped doing it lol. Also when you would be driving in low RPM range like 1200-2000 it would bog down for a second or two and the check engine light would flash? I put a scanner on it and no codes? and this is without shutting the car down. It all seems to be better now? but I'm just curious if anyone else has had this little ghost? thanks!

The 4th generations are known for fuel pump problems but before replacing a fuel pump I would replace the fuel filter if it has never been changed. I had problems with my 94 3.4 not wanting to start and I replaced the gas cap which helped a lot. I know on my 94 the fuel pump will not suck the last couple of gallons out of the fuel tank. The tank is supposed to 15.5 gallons if I remember correctly and if I get about more than about 290 miles on a tank or 13 gallons I'd better get fuel or I'll be a foot.

The LT1 in my 69 was doing the same thing at stop lights and it turned out to be the fuel pump. It was easy to diagnos by putting a pressure gage on the fuel rail. At startup up it read 25 psi (supposed to be 43.5). and then it would bleed down to 5 psi. I replaced the fuel regulator first because it was easier but the pressure was still down. A new fuel pump solved the problem. The original pump was fairly new but I ran a small gage ground wire by mistake and burned it up!

Don't Like it? Suggit.

Check your fuel filter and plug wires first. If that doesn't fix things it could be your fuel pump, but those are pricey to replace, so check your cheap/simple fixes first...

thanks guys!
I had a hunch it was the pump at first too! but now that it basicly hasn't done it once in like 8 months I have no clue what it was, and I don't want to mess with it until I have to haha. I wounder if heat has anything to do with it? it seemed to bag out most on hot summer days

You also might want to look into the (i think its called) secondary coil pack. My 97 SS started stalling awhile back as well and this is what me and my mechanic tracked it down to, course after I had busted up my knuckles removing and replacing the water pump to change the optispark... The optispark was fine. Once we replaced that ran like a champ...and still running strong for the new owner.
Just something else to be aware of. GL on finding and fixing it |

thanks!
I have been pretty lucky with my Z, its got a 180,000KM on it, and original opti but that secondary coil might just be the issue!

the only coil you have is mounted to the drivers side head your coil/ICM itself may be getting hot and starting to fail/work intermittently get a multimeter and test the ICM http://shbox.com/1/coil_testing.jpg and/or buy some washers and do the ICM cooling mod http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#ICM_cooling and if you havent already, check your fuel pressure http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#HVAC_vacuum
