Totally reversible.
This is what I did. Don't cut it. Just take the five minutes to carefully remove.

Recommend highly.

Excellent idea. Some other gadgetry could also find a home there? GPS, Detector mount, ???

I have added the JBL MS-8 which is logic 7 surround sound now so I don't need nor want to rid myself of the center channel, I just upgraded it to a JBL 560gti woofer.. Its PHENOM!

its not a subwoofer.. just the actual speaker from the 560GTI series. its a component set, a tweeter and a midrange woofer I simply just used the woofer.. its JBL's highest end setup, I got it as a favor from JBL to match my 660GTI's in my doors and rear lid.

I don't think a 3.5" is a woofer. Midrange at best. It might go down to 100hz, maybe.

Unbelievable difference. NEVER would I have thought to do this. Read about this a couple hours ago. Just came back in from testing this thread. DO IT. You will NOT believe the difference. I taped the plug to the speaker to keep the wire from rattling around. For those who want to drop another 1/2 lb from the Camaro just take the speaker out all together.

Thanks to this thread the music will be have a cleaner sound.

Wow wouldnt of believed it if i didnt try it myself. I actually unpluged it and replugged while it was on(Im sure not reccommended)and heard the difference immediatly. The sound is not as full but it is cleaner no doubt. I think I might look for a better speaker and replace instead of removing but for now I am leaving it out.

Unpluged the center speaker and put it back in this morning. Took 5 minutes tops.

Did it make a difference? Yes

Drastic? Not really

Good? Yes, more seperation of stereo as stated before

Leave it unplugged? Yes

It does make a difference that for now I like. FM, XM and iPod all do sound better in my opinion. Probably XM the most. I do seem to notice an increase in bass. Not sure why but there does seem to be more boost.

IMO, definately pop the grill and unplug the speaker. Extremely easy and no rattle.

Just to make sure I thought I could hear the difference, I had my wife come out and listen to it too. She said the same thing "noticed an increase in bass,” and a cleaner sound.

it seems to be a mostly midrange speaker, i kept mine it cause i found that the speaker makes it louder but with it out it adds more clarity and seperation i cant decide D:

In my case this tip was Very noticeable. It may depend on what type music you listen to as to how much difference it makes. I listen to a lot of smooth jazz and the difference was very nice. Thanks you all for yet another FREE improvement.
