Took the car out to the drag strip again today. I did only two passes, but managed to put down a 13,28 @ 106,9 mph.
Started with 3000 rpms and eased out the clutch. The start was good, but I experienced some wheel hop when shifting to second! 60' time dropped from 2,8 to 2,16. The second pass was poor, just spun the tires off the line and also forgot to turn off the traction control. It seems that one can get quite som wheelspin before the ECM catches on and turns off the power!? Anyhow, thanks for the advices and it seems like patience does the trick! |

Use Launch Control. You should be able to match or beat the factory rating.
Here's a vid on the Vette LC. Huge difference between a DIY launch and using LC. Plus it's easier on the drive train. |

Bump for all of you that have gotten your launches dialed in. What have you guys figured out? I know that it will vary based on conditions but looking for some starting points. I'm still only half way to 1500miles so not ready to launch it yet but can't wait to get it out to the track (Orlando Speed World).

Just coming on to say don`t use launch control if you want to go fast. I was using it when I went to the track because it was my first time ever, and I didn`t want to wreck anything.
I was getting so much wheelspin that on my last run I let the clutch out after the second yellow light came on and I still didn`t red light. I am gonna try a DIY at around 2500 or 3000 RPMs and see what happens next time. |

Don't use comp mode. It dumps too much energy, 4,200 rpm is too high. I believe sooner or later it will break something in the drive train. The ABS kicking in to limit wheel spin at the same time can't be good either.
Hold traction/comp mode button down for 7 seconds and turn both off. Launch between 2500 and 3000 rpms. You need some wheel spin to get the motor in the power band. Try to keep rpms between 3500 to 4000 once the tires start spinning. You probably want the rpms up around 4500 when the tires stop spinning. Drive it out of the hole. Keep rpm constant and let clutch out and slowly give it gas - like taking off from a stop. Don't pop the clutch but don't slip it either. Caution: slipping the clutch will burn it up. Don't stomp the gas but depress fast enough to to keep rpms up in power band. You can let off half way on gas then get back in it if you have too much wheel spin. This is called pedaling if you do it more than once. Practice! |

Here's what I did.
Quote:
First off make sure traction control And stability track are off. I didn't take off stability track off the 1st 2 times I ran but did the 3rd run and improved by 1.43 sec @ 7mph Ran the tac to 3000 and controlled the clutch release instead of popping it. Once it hooked I floored it. 4000 and popping clutch is too much tire spin I know the times could be better but I'm new at this. Just more practice needed. |
