Question 3.73 vs 4.10 gears

Ok, i know theres been alot of discussion on this topic, but i didnt quite find a direct answer to my questions. Does anyone know quarter mile differences between stock and 3.73 gears or stock and 4.10's? What about 0-60 times? also what would you folks recommend as a gear change... 3.73's or 4.10's? It's a daily driver but I give her a few taps on the pedal every now and then I'm not super concerned on milage, My previous car was a 8mpg guzzler so anything beats that. I want some tire shredding power, can I get more of that to the ground with a gear change? Sorry im not super familiar with a gear change since Ive never done one. Thanks!

Is your car a manual or an auto?

By the way, welcome!

There is a lot more to it than that. My general recommendation is 3.73 for the auto and 4.10 in the manual. Transmission gearing makes a big difference.

Thanks for the quick help! It's a six speed, also the car has an open exhaust and a rotofab CAI. How is first and second gear with 4.10's?

I have 4.10's installed in mine, you don't have to gas it when you let out the clutch and when you get into it get ready b/c your gonna be doing a lot of shifting, the hurst short throw helps alot, it really loves 3rd and 4th gear. Not a big change in gas mileage I'm getting 21 on the highway, Make sure you also get the full install kit, I ordered mine from Phastech great people to deal with and they had both the gears and install kit in stock. You are gonna need a tuner or someone that can adjust the speedo also. If you plan on doing any forced induction I'd stay away from 4.10's due to rev limit at least that is what I have been told. Good luck...

also if you hae a sc ls3, you will redline so fast.. also with a sc , getting traction is impossible.. with much lower gearing your tires will break loose that much faster...i would stick with 3.73.. from posts i read the 4.10s can be loud and also with good hp, the 3.73,s are outrunning the 4.10.. imo..more shifting does not equal better 1/4.. if road racing than 4.10 may be better as you can get more sweet spots in each gear and keep rpms higher coming out of turns..
