Signed. Is this the same GM that includes a factory catch can on the 2016 Camaro?

This is strange. What kind of tech starts up an engine that came in with low/no oil pressure. That alone is pure stupidity, and they damaged your engine, stating now it is making noises. It is also a well documented issue. They should have torn down, or at a minimum removed the plugs, disabed fuel and ignition, and spun it over with the starter a few rotations to see if it built pressure, or not. Not run it, that was very stupid.

No way in hell can a catch can have any effect on the engine's ability to make oil pressure. It has a stuck pressure relief valve.

I think your dealer is covering something up. You need to check the mileage and reqest any logging in the ECM. If they ran the engine with no pressure they are in the wrong.

Some do , and some are really good at it !

Signed. I wonder how the dealership represented this claim to GM. Does a GM warranty specialist actually show up in person or do they just go off of what the dealership tech reported? Seems like they can't deny the warranty until they can actually complete the repair to confirm what the issue truly is.

Why would GM themselves sell one if it's so catastrophic to the engine?
I call BS.

I work for a GM dealership in MI. Let me know if I can help
Well , we just have a one side of the story ( not trying to say that the OP have done something else to the car ) but most of the time there is always the second side ! who's knows !

The dealer took pictures of the modifications (including the tank plate and belts attached to it) and sent them to the TAC before beginning ANY work. TAC said tear it apart and find the point of failure. 2 hours later TAC calls back and says stop. The tech got as far as removing the front cover, and NOBODY has touched it since.

If he got the timing cover off, youre like 40% done with the fix. J/S... if you wanna do it yourself. Its a fun learning experience and a lot less headache than making a million phone calls.

Be careful with that pickup tube bolt though... omg

This is where GM has an out. If they offer their own catch can, then using a non GM-certified part gives them a lot of leverage to deny warranty coverage. Who knows, that might be why they started offering one in the first place. However, it also requires them to prove that the catch can the OP installed failed.

Superman09,
Have you contacted the catch can manufacturer or the company who sold it to you? I'm sure they would be interested in knowing that their catch can will void a manufacturers warranty. They may offer assistance to you in getting GM to honor the warranty.
