I run 2 catch cans...

Signed. Is this the same GM that includes a factory catch can on the 2016 Camaro?

This is strange. What kind of tech starts up an engine that came in with low/no oil pressure. That alone is pure stupidity, and they damaged your engine, stating now it is making noises. It is also a well documented issue. They should have torn down, or at a minimum removed the plugs, disabed fuel and ignition, and spun it over with the starter a few rotations to see if it built pressure, or not. Not run it, that was very stupid.
No way in hell can a catch can have any effect on the engine's ability to make oil pressure. It has a stuck pressure relief valve. I think your dealer is covering something up. You need to check the mileage and reqest any logging in the ECM. If they ran the engine with no pressure they are in the wrong. |

Signed. I wonder how the dealership represented this claim to GM. Does a GM warranty specialist actually show up in person or do they just go off of what the dealership tech reported? Seems like they can't deny the warranty until they can actually complete the repair to confirm what the issue truly is.

Well , we just have a one side of the story ( not trying to say that the OP have done something else to the car ) but most of the time there is always the second side ! who's knows !

This is where GM has an out. If they offer their own catch can, then using a non GM-certified part gives them a lot of leverage to deny warranty coverage. Who knows, that might be why they started offering one in the first place. However, it also requires them to prove that the catch can the OP installed failed.

Superman09,
Have you contacted the catch can manufacturer or the company who sold it to you? I'm sure they would be interested in knowing that their catch can will void a manufacturers warranty. They may offer assistance to you in getting GM to honor the warranty. |
