My coolant temps in my daily driving and in traffic are fine, around 180-185*F. Drag racing I can do a run and have it climb to 200*F, still fine. But, when I drop gears and run for a while at higher RPMs, my temps soar - 230+. I'm thinking the stock coolant system is engineered great for the aluminum LS3. But, with the iron, more fuel fired in the cylinders, going to need more capacity. I could likely get away with swapping in a better radiator. Adding fans would just give more welcoming capacity.

My 2010 SS L99 is doing this after I did the stage 2 ProChager D1X and trans cooler to help cool the TK Performance built CTSV 6L90 and Circle D triple disc.

It's definitely not going to work like this in stop and go traffic because coolant and oil temps went through the roof in stop and go traffic last summer!

I need to find a solution.....

Thinking ZL1 heat extractor hood and bumper cover, relocating the trans cooler, and changing to distilled water and red line water wetter in the summer months.

Think it'll help?

Did it work?

How was the cooling before this addition? I’m curious because I haven’t found anything to cool a 427 in 100 degree heat. It takes a lot of coolers. Look at the newest ZR1 vette. It has 17 I think. They’re all over it .

Yes it was a big improvement. Its about as good as you can get on the radiator cooling.

I also had a custom radiator made with (2) 14" SPAL PWM fans. I, too, had a TT 427 LSX. When you start stacking things in front of the stock radiator, air is restricted and it's also pulling hot from the other things through the OEM radiator.

After it was installed, it ran just over 200* in summer heat.

Well I went with Scuzz's setup from Dewitt radiator and the brushless Spal fans.

I am very curious regarding the "just distilled water with 2 bottles of Redline Water Wetter" deal instead of DexCom. Is there any anti corrosion properties with Water Wetter? I am thinking iron block rust or the aluminum heads and radiator corrosion?????

I’m about to pull mine apart and it’s been running water for years. I’ll let you know and if there is anything to look at I’ll post some photos .

Corrosion is an issue with tap water due to the minerals and such from what I understand. This is why it is recommended to use distilled water. You shouldn't get any corrosion with distilled water as far as I know.

Anti freeze also helps prevent electrolysis.

If you run water and a water wetter you might also need another additive to prevent electrolysis.

SOOOO...... I called RedLine's Tech this morning to get their "straight from the horses mouth" recommendation regarding Water Wetter! And their tech said for a 20 quart system or below just use distilled water and 1 bottle of Water Wetter to lower the temps at least 20* F. I believe our system holds 11.7 qts. The Water Wetter also has anti corrosion/ electrolysis properties so we are safe there.
He said if you live in a cold freezing climate or use your A/C add 15% DexCom antifreeze to that mix.
So that is the route I am going to take to start with my new cooling system setup.

I don't know there there is much issue with electrolysis in our systems. Do we have dissimilar metals in our cooling system? I know i had a little issue with my chevy 350 due to the steel block and aluminum heads. We shouldn't have much introduction of electricity in our systems as long as your grounds are good. Knowing water wetter has properties to help is a good thing regardless!

I was looking at the setup with a Dewitt's that vengeance offers on there site. Debating on upgrading to the brushless motors.
