2013SS/RS Project B Squared

I recently sold my Procharged GTO and purchased this 2013 SS.
My GTO was a fun street/strip car that ran a best of 7.17 in the 1/8 and 11.33 in Ό. The problem was that I kept getting warned and threatened to be booted at my local tracks (Irwindale and Fontana). I figured it was time to buy something newer than an 08 and although I loved shifting gears in the GTO, auto was going to be easier for my goals. I have known the owner of this car for some time and have been to the track with him. He blew the original motor by running out of methanol during a pass. He bought a brand new LS3 block, forged bottom end, upgraded fuel system and set it up to run on e85. Work was done by a local shop. He then proceeded to burn up the trans and converter. He paid another shop to do the rebuild. The original shop didn’t do the trunnion upgrade and it dropped a valve. Off to another mechanic. So now he wants to get rid of the car. Let’s just say I sold my GTO, bought the Camaro and have some money to put into it. The goal is 6.50 in 1/8 and low tens in the Ό.

Got the car home and started going over things.

Filter was in bad shape, ordered another one.

Catch can filter was filthy. Soaked it and cleaned it real good.

Got up under the car and noticed the rear sway bar mount was broken. BMR came through with awesome customer service and got me a replacement very quick.

I wasn’t a big fan of sound of longtubes through stock exhaust. Went out to the Spintech factory in Riverside and picked up some Super Pro Streets. I had these on my GTO and absolutely love the sound.

Issues so far are the coolant temps rise significantly at idle even with the fans on. Once I start driving the coolant system functions properly and temps come back down. At cold start, the car bucks, surges and wants to die. The rpm’s fluctuate and once the car gets up to operating temp, everything’s good.

I have HP tuners and plan on downloading the tune. I'll have my tuner take a good look at it.

Plans for the future are radiator upgrade, a chiller, 15 inch rear brake conversion and looking into putting in a ZL1 rear. Looking forward to interacting with all you guys and I've already been browsing this forum which has tons of great info. I'll post up videos as well and I plan on getting this car on the track soon.
