2018 SS exhaust Fuse pull - CEL?

Yes or No? Does pulling the fuse to keep the NPP valves open throw a code or CEL on a 2018 2SS 1LE?

Fuse #51?

Dont recall the fuse number but it produces zero codes. Have had mine out for over a year to fix noisy buffles. Did it right at my dealership.

Raven, just curious...why would you need to pull the fuse to keep the valves open? Why not just set the exhaust to be open all the time and not have to worry about it any more?

The valves will not stay open all the time regardless of mode unless you pull the fuse.

So even if you set the engine management setting to be on track all the time, the valves still close? When do they close, or move...when you shut the engine off? I've never noticed any sound difference once it's been set to track, so I'm just curious.

Get the car into fifth gear just below 40 mph, give it a little throttle to accelerate above 40. You will hear the exhaust go from quiet to "loud".

The valves will close not matter what setting even if you have it in track all the time. They will close at a higher rpm but will still close.

The only way you will be able to notice the sound difference is to set it in track and cruise at highway speed and then pull the fuse and cruise again at highway speed. You will notice then

Only problem with doing this is if your car goes into V4 mode you will notice a horrendous exhaust sound that sounds almost like a tractor. If you have an automatic you will encounter it more often because autos will go into V4 mode in any mode unless you are shifting with the paddles.

Give it a try...

I pulled the fuse in my previous car (‘15 Z/28) and it was a huge difference. Even when I had my Z in Track it never really sounded like it did once I pulled the fuse - especially just cruising around town.

I just wasn’t sure with the 1LE that pulling the fuse would throw some errant code or trip the CEL.

I’m going to pull the fuse tomorrow.
