Nutro, I put ARH 1 7/8 with HFC using my stock catback. I have had it on for 4 months now with about 300 miles on the system and have still not received a CEL. I know that the CEL could come on at any time, but I just haven't had the time to go get it tuned.

The Bimmer needs to get rid of those cats before he blows them out and get clogged.

Will shorties (JBA, etc) plus hi-flows throw a CEL and require a tune? I have Solo hi-flows w/mid-pipes now on my stock manifolds. Will shorties bolt up to everything? Would this combo yield a decent hp bump? So many questions...

No on the shorties unless you wanna pay a buttload of money for the look. They yield very little gains.

His response is consistent, "just drive it."

If you do put on headers, I will agree with the previous posts that recommend a tune. A lean/rich running engine will cause more pain down the road.

Good luck with the job search!
I tend to agree with you here too, but my problem is inherent to owning a car of this caliber and power, yet one that gets crushed by any high performance Ford that comes our way because it's a poorly geared fatso.

So I mod. Because Chevy made an awesome slow-fast car that I love.

I installed Pfadt Try-Ys with high flow cats and haven't experienced any issues, I also live at altitude and have been as low as ~2700ft. Have a boxed CAI, but haven't had time to install it yet.

It may come on right away or it may come on 50 miles down the road.

Well, if Kooks will not stand behind their "will not throw a CEL " green cats, I guess I will shop elsewhere! Maybe Phadt.

When I installed my kooks and high flows, I would get a CEL every maybe 200 miles. But it stopped happening. I dont get it anymore.

Totally agree. I have been trying to justify the high cost of Kooks Step headers and Green Cats, but if they don't back there product, forget it.
