Update on my blown engine

So apparently, as many expected I spun a rod bearing and blew up the crankshaft (cracked)

Good news is the engine block is salvageable.

Whooopsy

Is cracked crank part of a spun bearing, to be expected? Or is that why it spun?

More good news: They estimate $8500 to rebuild the engine, and another $4000 for a Stage II Cam, DOD delete and e85 tune

So I am within my budget to get the car fixed and an upgrade.

Honestly, they aren't to sure, and was wondering what the tune looked like. Chad with CBI, was surprised the crank cracked as the power I am pushing is just not in the area of worry for that to happen. But like anything in life, sometimes shit just happens.

Not sure if a rear spun rod bearing would cause the crank to crack, or if the crank cracked and caused the rear spun rod bearing.

He said it doesn't look like oil or pressure was an issue. He said the oil pump looked good. Just for some reason that rear bearing got hot.

Went back and read through your original thread on the failure event. Hate that it happened and glad to see you have the resources/budget to do the repairs/upgrade.

Glad to hear he's getting you taken care of, best in the Midwest in my opinion and that's why I referred him to you.
I broke the crank in my 2016 on the Forged Engine, it broke internally and proceeded to char every bearing in the engine. When I pulled the balancer bolt oil ran out of the front of the crankshaft, not supposed to do that, Right? It sure isn't but that's modding, crazy shit happens. Sure glad your going to save some money to do some extra modding. Keep us up to date.

I have high anxiety right now lol. Be nice to be able to drive my car again, been without it since beginning of June.

Appreciate the referral. I like Chad, good guy, and down to earth. He even stayed late because he knew I was driving to drop off the car when he didn't have to, but I greatly appreciated that he did.

At least you are going to be down over winter and not really miss driving it. I think I have driven mine twice this month.

What mods did you have?

A 416 short block is near $8,000... something to think about instead of rebuilding that one.

K&N CAI
2" Speed Engineering LT (cat delete)
3" Speed Engineering X-Pipe (cat delete)
MBRP 3" Axle back (getting rid of the suit case finally)
DIY E85 flex fuel
Stage 3 ported LT2 Intake
95mm ZR1 TB

My budget is limited to about $14,000 and I'm not sure if any of the previous mods can transfer to a 416, otherwise I would agree. I think a 416 would use different heads if I am not mistaken in which case more cost with a 416. And because of the Stage 2 Cam they are going to put in: I also need a T87A unlock kit to have the trans tuned for better cam synergy.

Heads should be the same, but a limiting factor without porting them.
