where the hell do yall bed pads - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

so I'm about to do a brake job and paint my calipers. Got 4 new rotors, pads, the whole 9 yards...

I live just north of Denver. The bedding instructions say to step up from like 30/50/70 mph and do hard stops one right after the other in order to bed the pads.

Problem is that I don't really have a road near me that I feel comfortable doing that on...

Is there an alternative way to bed the pads? I don't recall ever having to do this on my older cars, and the brakes always seemed fine...what's the impact if I can only find a road to do it on from maybe 30-40 mph?; figure i can find a spot late night around me and get there, might be able to get up to 50ish but I'm not trying to pull a ticket for hitting 70 on a side street and then slamming on the brakes hahaha

Night run on the interstate or back road, with nobody else around?

yeah i was thinking interstate, but where I'm at the hwy is always packed. I think if I go about 20 or 25 min north of where I live I should be able to find a country road that might do the trick...I'll look at a map and see what I can find

I remember hard stops from 30 and 50 but don't remember 70,
is that what you are supposed to do?
