Very simple. The bottom screws to the small side black grills they are integrated with and a small bracket at the fender and bumper (fascia) line. That's why we took our time to make them look right and attach with out screwing to fender or bumper or taping them on.

Am definitely interested, however will not be purchasing if this required drilling/other permanent modifications to the bumper for installation

Just call us for the rock guards. We can send clips and you add them by drilling a hole in the rock guards that's all we have changed on the rock guards and we offer a deluxe type that cost more. You can also screw the rock guards on as a option. The wicker bill you have is the standard edge, and we sell many still. The polished edge version is more money and takes longer to make. Not all the wicker bills are made with polished edge. No one out there makes a better rock guard than us. Products are always improved in everything including your car.

like we said, only need to drill small holes in the black side grill. The top is held with clips between the bumper and fender. There is no way to attach with tape, they will fall off like others out there.

Functional in what way? First off most do not know what they do. The are used with a rear wing, that is why you see them mostly on cars with a rear wing. They do have some effect on creating a vortex along the side of the car at speed to keep from air rolling under the car. Most want them for the look. They will make downforce but very little compared to drag. They are on the zl1 1le because of the rear wing.
