So what's the point of the ZL1 ? My v6 handles great ... Are zl1 owners going to autocross on i95? Who the hell wants a car 20/30k more expensive then an SS and by some factual accounts -- slower ?

Why buy a zl1 ? The beautiful vent ???

Chevy owes us a huge apology ....

I've been on this forum since 2008.

I had a Challenger SRT8 purchased from Arrigo Dodge in August 2008

A white 2SS/RS purchased from Roger Dean Chevy

And I had an IOM 2LT/RS with 24" d.u.b wheels

My cocaine and drug problem landed me in rehab and I have a new model focus.

No clones here my man , but I am a die hard Chevy fan -- and always will be.

I couldn't care less what you own. Would you like to know what brand of jeans I wear? Yup, irrelevant. What I'm pointing out is, in the short time you have POSTED to this forum, you have accused a well-respected member of bigotry, thus glaringly showing your own. Also, you have remarked on what is "owed" you by a private entity that offers privileges, not rights. Neither of these themes has ANYTHING to do with the car enthusiasm per se or the ZL1 specifically. If you wish to comment on either of those, shoot!

I'm still anxiously awaiting more driving impressions from new owners. It seems most are taking the break-in period seriously, so it seems we'll have to wait another few weeks before private owners can/will post 1/4 times. Until then, all continues to be speculation regarding "average joe" times.

Didn't you hear? Since 1/4 mile times suck, we've turned the ZL1 into an endurance racer, hence the long thread.

Thanks, there could be a leftover 2012 GT500 in my future if the prices fall to where I think they may.

If you intended that Z28 Camaros were to be excluded from your comment, then to be clear, it would have been helpful to have explicitly done so, as you stated that "the best straight line performance for the money has ALWAYS been a focus for the Camaro." In general, I find that it's not prudent to make statements that use terms such as "always" and "never," since there are often exceptions that will show that such statements are not accurate.

The 1967 to 1969 Z28 Camaros were the "baddest" and "best of" Camaros on the Trans Am circuit, and it's one of the reasons that they are so highly prized and sought after today.

This thread is hilarious! A bunch of Magazine racers. Take it to the track! I had a 2010SS with headers, a cold air, and a tune (404 rwhp) with street tires until I traded it for my ZL1. I averaged a 12.5 run but one time when all the stars were alligned I ran a 12.0. It is all about getting to know the car, your skills, weather, and track prep. I raced many 5.0's and bet most of them. I even have videos of me beating a Shelby and a Rous
h Mustang. Those cars should have clearly beaten me but didn't. It is all about the driver and the car. Heck I got beat by a BMW once. Come to find out he was spraying. Street credibility is more important than Magazine Cred, so take it to the track! I will have my new ZL1 at the track after the break in. I'm sure my first few runs wont be anything to bragg about but once I get to know the car then it should all work out.
