On street tires AWD is huge. Once you put drag radials on. I think the advantage shifts to the rear wheel drive car. It'll have less drive train loss. Notice nobody has come up with an AWD funny car yet.

Like gossip said.....drag radials really even up the race. I ran a Subaru before my drag radials...when i was spinning he was gone...reeled him in at the end but it took me a while.

So my car should have no problem trapping 115...or is that to high? Man is my mph slow currently.

Royal, if you're an auto, then you may possibly squeak into the low 13s or high 12s. My car, bone stock down to the paper filter and running the old worn P-Zero tires, ran a 13.4 @ 111. Track prep was shit that night for sure, and I was also still in the learning process of trying to figure out what the car liked. So with some seat time and the mods I had, I dropped nearly a second and picked up nearly 5 mph. I'd say that the long tubes are definitely worth it imo.

Long tubes are definitely the next upgrade I'm looking at with high flow cars and a good tune.

I would expect it to lag behind an M6 car a couple of MPH, the gentler cam, lower compression, and losses from the converter and trans all will culminate to pull a few mph less on an otherwise similarly built L99 vs. LS3. L99 with the VVT and converter own the first half of the track, the LS3 really charges down the back half!

I know I sound like I'm beating a dead horse here but it is almost stupid how easy it is to get an 11 to 14 5.0 in the 11's and even 10's. It seems we have to put down 40-50 more whp to just keep up. The A6 guys are leaving the engine alone and with DR's and a converter/tune and are busting 11's. It seems so ridiculously easy to go fast in those cars.

Good info, thank you. Was the #8 cylinder failure due to the insufficient coolant flow issue? What was the nature of the failure? (head gasket, rod bearing...etc). Ive seen several issues with rod knock, was that pretty common with all years or certain? or not at all.

rontammy0, My most recent times at the local 8th was embarassing. With the mods I have, and no tires, I ran a 8.496@86.624 with a 60 of 2.207 with traction control on. Didn't mean to do that. Next time out I ran 8.521 @ 88.677 with a 60' of 2.242. No traction control. First time down the strip in 10 years. Need a driver mod bad but my mph was still rather low I thought for my mods. Maybe this will be an encouragement for you. It could be way worse.
