Had the car up in the air looking at things and noticed the driveshaft and the gas tank heat shield were starting to not play nice with each other. Very small amount of rubbing on both, more scratches than anything.
I thought about just removing the heat shield, but it also serves to hold the emergency brake cables into the plastic retainers on the side of the gas tank. Since I'm running 15"s and have the cables tied back to clear the wheels, the cables tend to pop out of the retainers and the heat shield helps keep them in place. So I modified the heat shield just a little bit. The oblong hole towards the front allows some extra room for the yoke arms which is where a light scratch was on both the shield and the arm. I left a small section of the middle in for rigidity and then removed the remainder of the upper portion of the shield. After first cuts and fitting Made some more cuts towards the rear - looks better After final cuts/fitting and in place Plenty of clearance now. I will check it again after the next time I go to the track in the next week or two. .

I think its more to do with the offset diff bushings and the larger diameter of the aluminum DS combined with hard launches at the strip. I looked at everything before going to the strip a few weeks back and didn't notice anything at all. So fairly certain it's a result of that.

A forum member asked where to get the blue protective film that I use when working on the car - It is Plasticover - PCF240200 Floor Protection Film, Temporary Adhesive Plastic, Blue, 24" Wide by 200' Long. Works very well and is cheap protection.

Its been a while again.. lol.. Anyways, during the summer I was collecting parts for a forged 416 build and in November all the parts finished arriving. So early December after recovering from Covid and finally starting to feel a little better, I started taking the car apart. Before getting too far though I wanted to test fit the LSA 3 belt with Maggie Heartbeat to see if I was gonna have any issues.
I did find 2 things had to be done for it to work right - #1 the LSA water pump water inlet was hitting the throttle body inlet Marks on the bottom of the inlet - After grinding the flashing off of that it looks to be good to go - Everything mounted up - Griptec 3.20 10rib upper pulley, DSX Triple S/C Idler Pulleys, a GM LSA tensioner with 10 rib pulley and a ICT 6 rib Idler pulley w/Bracket.

#2 the idler pulley that goes on the drivers side head for the accessory drive is very very close to the throttle body.
Flip the TB over and it's even closer to the S/C pulley. So I ordered a smaller diameter pulley wheel from Advance Auto Parts - Dayco 89095. Plenty of room now.

While tearing the engine down everything was going smoothly until I went to pull the cam out. There was one bolt in the cam retaining plate that just wouldn't give. Ended up twisting every torx bit I had trying to get it out.
Ended up welding a nut to the bolt head and got it out finally.

Got everything loaded up and headed to GPI to drop it all off.

Next up was pulling the factory k-member out -
Then working on relocating the positive battery jump connector/contraption/thingy... lol After cutting it off.. I left the tab with the stud on it as I use that to mount the Mighty Mouse Catch Can. Masked and primered Painted Next up is make a slight bend to the fuel supply line so it will be in the little cubby hole between the shock tower and firewall. Line bent towards the passenger side - E85 sensor back in place Looks much better and just as accessible.
