would removing two cats help?
i noticed that even though the camaro has 4 cats, the sensor is after the first set. There doesnt seem to be a sensor after he second set.
Question is, is it worth it to remove the last two cats? would it affect HP, Engine lights, etc..? Any help appreciated.

You would probably get a better answer in the exhaust section.

Removing cats will always increase horsepower. Not sure if they will throw a code though...

On my car if you remove the back 2 cats, you will get a Check Engine light. If you turn off those two O2 sensors with a tuner the Check Engine light will go off, but you will get 2 "Not Ready" errors when you hook it up to the computer to get the car checked for a vehicle inspection. Not all States/counties/cities require the car to be hooked up though, so I'd suggest you do some research before removing them.

Since you live in LA, you can bet the smog check visual inspection will catch the missing cats.

I think a high flow single cat is a better option. Bolt in. That way you are leaving your OE cat pipes intact. And if you ever need to put it back to 100% stock it will be easy. Cut between the two cats, and tough and expensive to return to stock.

I just ordered the high flow cats from solo performance. They say that it won't throw a code and it increases the sound and performance. Somewhere around 25 for both HP and torque increase.

So if a company like bbk is saying that their long tube will give you a gain of up to 30hp with high flow cat than does that mean that 30hp number will go up with no cats? I know with turbo cars getting rid of the cats will give you alot of extra horses from my past experience but I heard that you will not see too much of a difference with a n/a car with no cats. Maybe someone with more expertise can verify?

Is that 25hp because you have an intake and exhaust, or 25hp on stock?

That's stock I believe. But you should look at their website. They've got the dyno sheet on there. They are 575 but Maryland speed has the jba high flows for 392.

Also, one cat? I have two on mine, I just assumed the V8 Camaros would need two as well. My hi-flows are small, about the size of a fist. |
