They dont speak English at Subway anymore

So after a long day at work, me and the wife were moving another load of stuff from our old place to our new place. We decided to stop at Subway to grab dinner. There were two girls working the counter making the sandwhiches. And one didn't speak English!!!! No one word. The other girl had to translate everything to her. This is flat out ridiculous that in the United States of America people have to speak Spanish to order a friggin sandwich. I'll be calling the complaint line and the manager today.

I don't follow....

she had a translator, what's the big deal? maybe she's taking night classes trying to learn english but isn't far enough to be conversational yet? who knows.

Well, in my opinion nobody is entitled to a job if they aren't willing to work for it, but otherwise I agree with you. As long as she does what is asked of her and has a translator, I don't see an issue with it.

Did she cut your foot long sub in half? I had a skinny dim-witted white girl in Show Low, Arizona who couldn't even manage that. If she can take my order and get it right, I don't care what she speaks.

Yep, as long as I don't get an attitude from someone because I can't understand them then I don't see the problem. Im my job, I come across many people who cannot speak English. Some(very few) of them get frustrated with me because I don't know what they are trying to tell me. Now this I cannot tolerate.

IMO, the mistake was by whoever hired her. If they want to pay two people to do the job of one, more power to them.

I'm confused why anyone living in Texas wouldn't be able to speak enough Spanish to order at Subway. It's not like there isn't any history there, and it's not like Spanish speakers make up 36.9% of the population or anything. And that was in 2000, by now I'm sure that number is higher.
