Sounds like an awesome setup, but the term "street" car is always up for debate. I know of a lot of cars that are driven on the highways that are far from street cars.

I'm still debating on what I want to do. Part of me wants to keep tha Camaro relatively stock and my daily driver, that way I can spend my time money on making the GT500 faster. Of course, I'll be tempted to do the same to the Camaro. Maybe I'll set up the Gen5 for handling/road courses and the GT500 for drag racing.

Yeah, everybody has a different view on what a street car is. My short opinion is a car that someone can and does drive too and from work/store etc. when they want. This car will maintain AC, have good street manors etc. Which is why I'm doing the 4L80e so I have a nice overdrive. I'd keep the stock auto tranny, but they can't be built to handle the amount of power I'm going for.

My 07Z ran 9.2-9.3's @156-158 last year and the only thing not streetable was cats. Full stock interior, leather, navigation, ac, etc.. I even made those passes in 100% full street trim(How I drove it on the street) 18x10 front rims/tires etc.. Doesn't take as much as it use to, to make cars go really fast and still maintain decent street manors!

If your going to have both cars, your GT500 would probably make a better drag car. Solid rear axle in addition to a forged motor, it's fairly easy to modify and get going fast!

Oh I'll get the bug fairly quick. The problem after that is money to catch up with it. I'll have minor bolt ons, then after a few months a higher lift cam and CNC port and polish the heads. GMHTP just did an article where the LS3 Vette dyno'd at just over 500whp with nothing but full exhaust, intake, tune, and the above mods.

If you want overdrive and a ton of torqe potential, ditch that 4L80 and step up to a 6L90!

Oh, and interesting to note is that the aforemetioned bumblebee clone started life as a third gen.

The problem with the 6L90 is that it can be tuned. They are still having problems tuning that transmission in the corvettes. Otherwise I would have went that route with my z06, instead of the 4L65E.

I could personally careless if a car has AC or not, and would still consider it a street car without it. The only reason I'm planning on maintaining it, is becauase many people put AC on their ruler to what a Street car is.

You never know though.. I may ditch the AC if that means I can fit bigger turbo's in there, or if it means more weight transfer.
