Anybody removed the stock shift knob?

2SS 6m

I twisted mine untill I thought it might break but it didn't budge!
Maybe a set screw under the chrome?
I'm not sure a round knob is gonna look good untill there is an aftermarket boot with a round hole.
Maybe I should just wait for the Hurst...

that means that the mirror is 38.75% the size of the vertical windshield...
it sure seems like the ratio could be better... just sayin....

Maybe pull the shifter assembly, stick in carefully in a vice, and put channel locks or vice grips on it. Make sure you look for small retainer clips or jamb nuts at it's base too. I've seen both on older Camaros.

The Corvette shifter has a set screw, probably under the ringlet husk. Try pulling down the shift boot to see if it reveals a screw? I dunno.

On my C 5 Vette you pop the top cover off the shifter and you see a pin under it. You have to get two screw drivers and work the pin up and out and then the knob comes off.

According to GM parts catalog, knob is serviced together with boot and you must remove console plate and 4 bolts or screws to take off knob/boot asm.

pt# 92233397

as far as the knob off the boot.....
