My whole point was that I think the parts should be available to all. The only limitation that I can see Chevy being able to justify would be limited distribution, to Z/28 owners, just at the very beginning. I think it would be fair to let Z/28 owners get our parts orders placed first in the queue, then open it to everyone. Tell people up front that at some point (August 1st?) the Z/28 parts will be available for anyone (even those without a Z/28 VIN) to order. Chevy would be wise to simply clarify this so that everyone knows where they stand. If that doesn't seem fair that's fine by me, as its just my opinion. As always, your mileage may vary...

But, at least allow us non-Z28 owners to make our cars like we want using GM parts if thats what we want to do. Thats all I'm asking cause I, speaking solely for myself, won't be making a Z28 clone. I will always rock my SS badges. If I had the option, I would have built this to include the dry sump oiling, wikerbill, and Z28 brakes also. Z28 wheels would be used for racing with hoosier slicks. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=326714 |

This is just idiotic. Bad business for everyone involved.
By the way, someone getting a part or two isn't "cloning" it's just putting a part that you like on the vehicle. |

Wish they would have done this for the ZL1. Way too many clones out there.

As others have said this is nothing new for GM. Back in the mid 60's the 1963
Chevrolet Impala's RPO/Z11 racing and aluminum front end replacement parts were restricted. As you can tell, I go way back.

New Z28's to restrict parts to prevent clones?!
GM is restricting Z28 special parts to prevent cloning. My ZL1 cost me $70 out the door and yet I see all these clone parts on Amazon and everywhere else sold by GM. How come?!!! What do you guys think, I don't like the idea of a V6 or SS Camaro being able to get ZL1 parts on it, like rims, spoiler, carbon fiber hood inserts or front splitter. LMK what you think.

The parts restriction wont last forever. Then you will see parts everywhere.

I agree 100%. Buy what you want. If you can't afford what you want, be happy with what you got.

I am trying to remenber but I think it was back in 1987 when the Buick GNX came out that GM restricted selling parts for that car to anyone who did not have a VIN number that matched a GNX. That did not last long though because people figured out somehow a way to get the parts and then you starting seeing the regular Grand National's looking like the GNX's. That being said,GM does not seem to care I guess because they are in the business of selling parts and that helps their bottom line.
