What's the Truth About Nitrous Kits?

Is it the easiest 150HP you can get or does it destroy motors?

Too many people will scare you away from it because they either have heard the scare tactics before or want to swing you to what they have. Nitrous done correctly is very safe and a great power adder. Do all your research, get all the right parts, and absolutely make sure you have someone tuning it who knows what they are doing.

If you are scared just do a 125 horse kit. I love NX (nitrous express) but NOS (holley) is great also. 125 horse is 100 rwhp and 150+ torque. These motors can handle a good deal of abuse. make sure u have a window switch, bottle pressure gague, bottle heater, blow down tube, fuel pressure saftey switch, a professional dyno-tune and some drag radials !!!

No love?

lmao

seriously tho, what concerns are you having about nitrous?

if used properly, as SC1250 said, its safe and powerful.

if used incorrectly/improperly, you may have issues.

as far as the amount that you can run on a stock engine safely, 150 is about the highest I would personally run, unless I had the money and time to find out how much it could actually take.

and IIRC, there have been a couple of guys running 200hp nitrous on stock bottom end 5th gens.

I think best $ per hp for sure. I have run it before with no problems. I was told when I bought my first kit to NEVER listen to other people or friends when it comes to the "Sauce". Call the company you are looking to go with and tell them what you want to do without breaking anything and they will tell you exactly what to do. Follow their instructions and everything should go just fine. Oh and remember this....... The first time you use it.... HOLD ON!!!

my tuner does not think it is a good idea his school of thinking is .
we can take off the SC and headers for warranty work (if blown motor)
if I go nitro.the intake would show fuel where it was not supposed to be.
and no way to cover it up...I want to go like 75 hit. also read I could go 50 hit with no tune.....hit my old school v8's with 100 hit with just a little dropped timing and it worked well.now with the new motors my hands are tried by my tuner...

3.5 years on my gto with no issues. Nitrous outlet is the kit i purchased. Get the best kit with safety features in place, install correctly, good tune, No problems. My only advice is that if you have a manual don't spray on launch and check your solenoids once a year.
